When I was a kid, my dad’s work boots were always sitting in the den whenever he was at home. He came home, took them off, and there they stayed until he left. They always seemed HUGE to me. Right now, my feet are bigger than his ever were but somehow, they don’t seem all that big. I wonder if little kids would think different. Now, my dad has a hard time cutting his own toenails. He talks about how he needs to mow the lawn but rarely does. Mostly that’s for my nephew. He doesn’t bathe much because he has a hard time in the tub and shower. On the phone, he ask me the same questions over and over. Sometimes he tells me stories from several days or weeks ago like they were yesterday. And he doesn’t wear work boots any more.
On the lighter side, our new floor is done and it really looks good. I couldn’t be happier. I got to work in the yard today for the first time this year, planted a few new shrubs and all that spring yard cleaning stuff.
And last but not least, Mexican Radio is coming to Schenectady. Me and Duncan love that place.

Haven’t heard much from me lately because we’ve been working on the house again. Put up wainscoting in the foyer and painted that and the upstairs. It took a LOT longer than I thought it would. I should just double the time it think it’s gonna take me to do anything.

On the left is a during picture and on the right is where we took up the carpet in the dining room today. We’re putting down a new floor.

Strangely enough, we noticed the living room is the only room in the house that doesn’t have the wood covered with tile. It may pose a quandary.

And here’s Casey.
I also had another biopsy this week, this time on my hand. My best guess is it’s another carcinoma.
Vintage Dairy Queen sign coming down in Hickory.

It’s so hard keeping up with everything that has to be done and then keeping up with everything that doesn’t have to be done. We’re adding wainscoting to the foyer and that’s taking a lot longer than I thought but it’s going all right.
We went on an awesome road trip last weekend seeing seven feet of snow, not sure why I didn’t really take a lot of pictures, guessing I was more interested in just looking.
Fell on my ass Monday…DAMN THAT ICE!!!…and my butt has been sore for a week and I think I may have another skin cancer on my hand. Hopefully whatever this thing is the doc can just zap that thing off.
And can anybody tell me why hater Roy Ashburn was never exposed as being gay if everybody, including Chris Cabaldon, supposedly knew?
I went to the attic today, probably for the first time this year to retrieve a box from the “box room”. Couldn’t even get dog to come up. She was chicken….same dog is also scared of a neighborhood cat. We have a chicken dog.

It’s 18 degrees with winds at 36mph and a wind chill of 2 as I take this picture. It’s been a cold day and I’ve been outside most of it. Gas is a buck eighty seven and I popped myself in the lip with a push-broom that had blown over in the wind which I stepped on…it then flew up at 70 miles per hour and hit me in the face…hence my purple lip.
People seem to be decorating outside as much as ever, maybe more. We rode around looking at christmas lights tonight in our annual tradition but we’re still in need of a longer ride I’m thinking.
I love my GPS.
Christians who think Christmas is a Christian holiday are seriously fooling themselves.

Did a little touch up painting today but it’s held up resoundingly well for being more than five years. It seems like a long time ago.
Charlotte ranks #3 in Gay Real Estate USA’s top 10 ghetto rankings. Are they crazy?

The neon lights on Broadway are sometimes LED.
The colors are amongst us. The greens, purples, reds, yellows…all just like that it seems as I sit on the back porch taking it all in as I type these words. I did have the music playing but it seemed wrong so instead I listen to the wind which seems pretty brisk on this sunny warm day. Watching the lilac bushes with their giant purple blossoms blow around, the bird with the bright orange bill eating off the bird feeder, and the wind chimes making a distant sounding chime but being right above my head. What a great day to be off, but then again, any day is a great day to be off.

This is the room I grew up in. It didn’t have a door at the time, the walls were brown knotty pine and there was red and black carpet on the floor. Looks like it’s a den now. My mom said it was for sale again so I looked it up. My folks bought it for $15,000, sold it in 1987 for $63,000 and it’s for sale now for $250,000. It’ been seriously remodeled and it’s more beautiful than ever. The things I used to do in that room. I was a freak kid.
We’re going to see the True Colors Tour next month. I’m just freaking excited. I truly love Cyndi Lauper and The B-52′s. You can see that by my much out dated about me page. How will I make it until then?
And, this evening, as I was driving, everything seemed different. I drove the neighborhood, it was the same, yet different. I don’t know if it’s because everything has turned green in the last week with all the rain or what. It’s just different.
And even with the new revelation that I have old woman hands, specifically my moms, I got carded going into a bar Saturday night.
A problem with an old house is old windows which are not smooth and therefore it can be kind of hard to spy on neighbors. You may actually have to get off the couch to take a deeper look and see what’s going on across the street. I’m actually not a big spy or very nosy for the most part, but if something’s going on like a delivery or a repair vehicle or a hot guy, I like to take a look. My dad on the other hand, not now because there’s literally nothing to look at where they live, but growing up, nothing happened outside without my dad going to the window. At the same time, he didn’t have a clue what we were up too.
We got snow today, probably 10 or 20 flakes.
And our new dryer dries in less than half the time, in case you cared.
Finally had the chance to work in the yard a bit today, the last of the old lady’s giant unmanageable perennial garden is gone in exchange for a little grass. That should come through in a couple of weeks. Finally got the chance to get dirty too. I love mud and dirt and I love cleaning up afterwards. I take two kinds of showers, hot and cold. In the winter, I take really hot showers. In the summer, I take really hot showers. That is unless, I’ve just finished some activity and I’m sweating like a pig, then I take cold showers. Never take a warm shower. That probably explains my extremely dry skin.
