Madonna’s back…

The Winter of Frozen Dreams

That kind of describes my winter…and spring, but that’s not what I’m talking about. That’s the movie they shot here in Schenectady last year. Saw it a few days ago and it was just okay, nothing special. But the the images were great, not because it was filmed here, the the location was 1977 small town Wisconsin in the middle of winter and well, that’s here. Got to see the creek where we walk Casey, the Mohawk River, lots of City Hall shots, inside and out, and Union College. Also the GE Plot and Mikes Hot Dogs though the house on Avenue A they did a lot of shooting at I could not pick out. Like I said, it’s just okay so only rent it if you live around here, otherwise move along.

I thought I just wouldn’t say anything about Michael Jackson but his music was an important part of my kid-hood and young adulthood….but he disappointed me. At work last night, it has hard to find anyone really sad and I myself did not shed a tear. A lot of jokes were passed but I don’t know if gay people disliked him most or straight guys. Only a few young girls seemed upset and protested his innocence.

BTW, my leg is doing OK. My doc gave me the release to do anything I wanted as long as I was comfortable doing it. I still move at a snail’s pace and my first try at impact was quite painful but I can walk pretty good and lift heavy stuff, just slowly…and I’m still weak. I did walk Casey around the block which took forever and I think she was trying to kill me but I held my own pretty good.

My thoughts are with Michael and Lara while their dog Madison is going through a hard time right now.

Blondie – X Offender “1976″

Blondie – X Offender “1976″

OMG! I’m just sitting here wasting my life watching Blondie videos, much like I did when I was a kid except I was listening to Parallel Lines. I saw Blondie in 2002 (seems like yesterday) and they were still awesome.

We had a hail storm yesterday and it looked like snow at work it was so deep. Destroyed a ton of my inventory.

Update OK! OK! If embedding is disabled, why does it let you do it?!!  Go here to see video.

Day 109, yeah I counted…

Two steps forward, one step back. The beginning of last week was one of those one step back periods but since let’s say, Wednesday or Thursday, things have started to hop forward. I started using a cane in the last several days and I even can walk some without any assistance, I just think I do better with it because it forces me to walk normal instead of wobble like a weeble.  Enjoyed working in the yard today, finally planting some flowers I bought two weeks ago…wanna do more. Wanna dance to this!

You gotta love (really hate) New York politics.

Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly (Fond of Each Other) by Willie Nelson

I had no idea this song existed until I saw it on an old episode of U.S. of Ant. I’m sure it made the circle on the gay blogs but I somehow missed it. It was written in 1981 and given to Nelson a few years later. He kept it but never thought it was the right time to do anything with it until Brokeback Mountain a couple of years ago and after one of his old friends came out to him. He then decided to “kick it out of the closet”.

Nelson’s version of the song is his highest charting solo single since his 1984 duet with Julio Iglesias “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before”. However, some speculated about the potential success and reception of the song. Nelson explained that he didn’t think, “it took a lot of balls to put the song out” saying, “first of all, I didn’t think anybody would play it. I didn’t think it would get on the air, but sure enough it did” though not on country stations: “Oh no, they’re not gonna play it”. WXBX, a country station in Johnson City, Tenn., devoted one morning show to a listener discussion of Nelson’s release, concluding that, “the audience was disappointed in these artists” and, as Nelson thought, that they “probably wouldn’t be interested in much airplay”. PlanetOut offered the opinion that Nelson’s fan base is secure and broad enough (including “hippies, rednecks and outlaws young and old”) to take risks with gay themed songs and soundtracks, while the WXBX station manager pointed out that Nelson has not been a mainstream country star for a while. Nelson’s broad audience, and part of the appeal of the song, may be that, “Willie speaks his mind about any subject … That’s one of those things that has made him so endearing to so many generations of fans”. This silly, campy, song will undoubtedly keep Willie in the hearts of homos for a long time.

Me? It’s been a while since my last entry if for no other reason my life has consisted of work, then home, then elevated leg…which is doing well by the way. Eighteen more days on two crutches then the doc is going to start weening me off of them. Before that, 05.07.09

That’s when Star Trek premiers.  Way Cool.

Tina, again rocks my world

Feeling sorry for myself, sitting here looking up at my leg, I thought I’d sit here and listen to this song over and over to make myself feel even worse. By God, I started clicking on links and I found this…..

This it the opening from the Toronto show we went to in December. It was one of the times of my life.

And this is the way she does Nutbush…It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end…

I have been watching way too much TV since I’ve been hurt, but today, after this, I pulled out the iPod and listened to music. I also realized, for the first time this year, it’s almost 60 outside. I sat out there (granted I was sitting on the tailgate of the truck because I couldn’t get a chair out) playing with Casey and feeling great. Music also makes the physical therapy so much better. This is week four, next week, back to work, be it light duty, I’m happy about that. I went by my job yesterday to visit, who’d thought I’d actually miss that place. Duncan has been so good to me during this process. He’s done what ever I needed. Tomorrow was actually supposed to be the Fleetwood Mac concert I got him for Christmas. It was cancelled, which was probably a good thing because I don’t think I could have gone. I still owe him a Christmas present. I still owe him a lot more than that.

So Brian didn’t fall from a horse but I wish one would trample Chris Brown

So Brian and Jerry did their reenactment without anyone getting thrown from a horse but there were several Albany City Commissioners doing a press conference there at the same time which really seemed to piss off Jerry Jennings. Don’t fuck with Jennings when he’s got his cape on.

Chris Brown, WTF is wrong with you? You’re supposed to be this nice guy and now this… Wrigley’s has pulled their Double Mint ads and I hope every station stops playing you and you never sell another record. I hope someone beats the shit out of you and then bites your ear off. You don’t mess with my girl Rihanna, you don’t mess with any girl…

Six Years

7 Day forecast

Six years! That’s how long I’ve been in New York. Duncan’s actually been here a couple of weeks longer and it was cold then too. Mentally, it was colder then because I guess I’m just that much more used to it. The fact that it last so long, I haven’t gotten used too. I remember driving up here in the Jeep with every square inch of room full of stuff with cold air pouring in all the way, leaving everything I knew behind in North Carolina. Coming to a place I’ve never been to before for a new life, and new beginning. It took a while but I have a job I like, (most of the time), some really great friends, a pretty cool house, (though sometimes I hate it because something’s always breaking) and my Duncan (the best part).

I got tickets to see Fleetwwod Mac March 17th at The TU Center for Duncan for Christmas. It was canceled today…sucks, they’ll be in Toronto instead. Sure we’ll get our ticket money back but we’re stuck with all the ticket surcharges. Sure you’ll make more money in Canada Fleetwood Mac but you’ve lost a fan for life.

Eartha Kitt dies on Christmas

Earth Kitt

Eartha Kitt

The real Santa Baby is gone. Singer, actress, ostracised for being biracial moved from South Carolina to New York City and got her first starring role as Helen Of Troy from Orson Wells in 1950. Always flamboyant and outspoken on all issues including gay rights.

Kitt was outspoken on her stance regarding gay marriage. “I support it because we’re asking for the same thing,” she states confidently. “If I have a partner and something happens to me, I want that partner to enjoy the benefits of what we have reaped together. It’s a civil-rights thing, isn’t it? The gay marriage issue is similar to what African-Americans experienced during the time of the Civil-Rights Movement. We were not allowed to go through certain doors because of our race, our color,” she says intensely. “It was so stupid that we were not able to sit at the counter of a restaurant because it was only for Anglo-Saxons. It’s stupid when this country says it was born on freedom for all, but it’s freedom for some!”

Performing up until recently, she died of colon cancer today at age 81.
