9 December 2000

We just got back from San Francisco and it was great.  I have like 75 pictures to download but not to worry, I won't post all of them here.  Thanks to David for his hospitality, hope to return it soon.  I'll have a lot more stuff in the next couple days but we just bought a tree and there's goobs of wash to do.  Tomorrow we shall get up and retrieve The Kaleb from my folk's house and things will be great again.  Haven't seen her since November ya know.

I've got pics from San Francisco downloaded  finally and they're pretty good.  We picked up Kaleb today so she won't be able to be spoiled anymore and we've got the Christmas tree up but no ornaments yet.  It looks pretty good with only the lights actually.

Great dinner out with friends tonight after over sleeping an hour and a half this morning.  I'm sleepy now.

We've got the tree decorated, the lights outside, all the presents bought, a drama queen meteorologist telling us about the ice storm coming, and a sucking new president.  Have a nice day. Oh yea, only over sleep an hour and 15 minutes today.

We'll I've officially finished my shopping for Christmas and I must say that I have done well.  Of course I can't say what I got for people here but as I watch the train go around the tree, something I've always wanted, I'm sure everybody will be satisfied.  Now I'm off to grill the steaks in the cold rain and if you haven't seen the San Francisco pics, do it now.

It's cold and rainy and snowy and sleety, is that a word?  That's OK because gas is down to $1.30 and I got roses yesterday.  Just for being me.

We visited McAdenville, NC tonight, Christmastown, USA.  I know I'm getting old because the only ones who enjoy it are the young and the old and I thought it was great.  The whole town is decorated and your drive through about 5 MPH.  A great tradition.  By the way, I hated when I was young which only goes to prove, as I've been told, I was just a Little Man Tate.

Happy Christmas Eve.  This morning was great, breakfast with friends and a nice time to boot.  This evening was different.  Tonight we would go to my brother's house to do Christmas Eve with my family and tomorrow would be spent with Duncan's family.  We had taken off but I forgot my camera so we came back only to have a message from my brother saying that the shit had hit the fan.  Needless to say, my parents showed up at my door.  ***DELETED*** (This is the only entry I have ever deleted because I vented and hurt someone's feelings which I should not have)  Merry Fucking Christmas.  Tomorrow will be better, and thanks to Duncan for the great tent and air mattress. I love him very much tonight.

Today was better, much better.  This morning I went to my brother's house and played with his kids, exchanged gifts and ate breakfast. I still don't understand what went down yesterday, and frankly, I don't care.  Had lunch with Duncan's crazy family, and I mean crazy in only a complementary manner, and then hung out with my best friend Ray, along with Tommy and of course, had a great time.  Today I have collected a sleeping bag, Coleman lantern, outdoor utensils, a wallet, and a "The Films of John Travis" porn book. Thanks everybody.

Road Trip Today:  We explored the Triad of North Carolina today.  This is an area of the state which includes High Point, the furniture capital of the world, Winston Salem, the cigarette capital of the world, and Greensboro, the city where Duncan went to school, so I got a thorough tour of that place.  All three cities have these great downtown areas with some great old buildings.  It's sad because where I live, I don't think there are more than five buildings in uptown that date back before 1950.  It's a great place we just tend to tear down a lot instead of thinking about the past.  I think I could live in Greensboro for some reason, although I'm not really sure why.  We also visited this huge mall which didn't seem that old but was completely empty except for an old Montgomery Wards which are going out of business also.  Detroit anyone?

Also, thanks for the nice e-mails about the new look, and yea I know that the top of my head is cut, and I'm working on the Netscape.  Cops is on, and Duncan's frying a turkey, gotta go now.
