Happy New Year! Last night we celebrated
with Alan and friends but it was an early evening because I had to work
today. I got to envy his new house, and now I want one. I
also reworked the sited so it's more compatible with Netscape.
It's a little different but I guess I'll get over it.

Well it's been a hell of a day, after a month
of discussing it, Duncan has decided take a job in Salt Lake City.
It's a great opportunity for him but we're both sitting here looking at
each other. It's something he's always wanted to do so I say he
needs to do it. If you love someone you can' t hold them
back. In only 2 weeks, we'll be more than a thousand miles away
from each other. There is a lot more to say but I'll say it later.

The time we have put in together is not worth
losing so I think I will be joining Duncan in Salt Lake City in a few
months. The things I worry about are not leaving everything I know
behind, but what to do when I get out there. I will have to find a
job and although I have no doubt that I can do that, I will have to live
off Duncan in the mean time. That could possibly get hairy if
nothing good comes along fast. And I have a great fun job where I
work with great people, mostly, Debra is another story, and that will be
hard to replace. Oh, and I also have to tell my mom, great fun
there, gotta sell my house, gotta take a dog , a jeep, a truck, and
everything else I own across the country. What a spring this will
be, and speaking of spring, when is the ice on the pool going to melt.
This is week number four and this last week hasn't been dreadfully cold?

I feel like I'm in the audience watching
Franklin from Schoolhouse Rock
with interjections flying everywhere. Monday I was sad, Tuesday I
was happy, Wednesday I was mad, and today I'm excited. So when
you're happy, Hooray! or sad, Ah! or frightened, Eeeeeek! or mad,
Rats! An interjection starts a sentence right. And don't forget,
use a comma when the feeling not as strong.

It sure is hard to get motivated to do anything
with TV Land
doing an all weekend long marathon of All In The Family. It's been
so long since I've seen that show. It was a great show for it's
time, so far it's dealt with racism, rape, fags, spousal abuse, and
right now, Archie has just saved the life of a transvestite.
Comical satire at it's best. I remember it was one of the few
sit-coms my dad would watch. Thanks for showing these TV Land. Back
to laughing.
I saw my folks yesterday and they actually
encouraged me to go to Salt Lake, a big burden off my shoulders.
Now it's up to me and Duncan to get things going.
..........
Later...
Went to see Thirteen Days,
excellent, and have dinner with Lara
& Michael. A farewell to Duncan, Lara & Michael are
probably Duncan's best friends so It was kind of hard for them.
Thanks for everything guys, love you. Lara cried.

Last night we went out with Brian & Sherry, they wanted
also to wish Duncan farewell. They're great. I can't seem to
break this bad mood. It seems that I have been more depressed
during the last two weeks of my life than even during the whole
"coming out" crap of years ago. Duncan leaves Saturday
to live in a place he's never even visited before, it'll be much later
before I make it out there. My roots here grow deeper. It's
harder for me to leave everything and everybody behind. However,
tonight it's my turn to take him out because he's mine and he needs to
have one last plate, (or sandwich) of real North Carolina BBQ. You
actually have to leave Charlotte for that.
..........
19 January 2001
Well, tomorrow Duncan leaves for Salt Lake
City. I'm watching him pack, throw away some things, which is
unusual in itself because he is a keeper of all things,
and listen as friends and family call to wish him well. I love
him, and I will miss him in our time apart. I have actually gotten
used to living with someone, now I must get used to living alone again.

Duncan's gone. I made it half way through
the terminal before I lost it. Have a safe trip buddy, I love
you. See you soon.

Went to Ray's house today and we ended up
watching every episode of Queer As Folk. I know that show's gotten
a lot of bad press from the media but I actually liked it. It's
always nice to know (yea I know it's over dramatized) that we've come a
long way. It hasn't been too many years ago that no one would have
even dreamed of putting this type of show even on pay TV.

Mary Tyler Moore marathon on TV Land. I
can't stop myself.
I canceled my paper subscription last week, you
know, just to save a little money here and there. Gas is eating me
alive. I did without it for about two days before I had to
reinstate it. I was one of those freaks who was 18 years old and
subscribed to the paper. I've gotten it ever since. There
just seems to be so much more information in a daily paper than in 1½
hours of a news show. Local news sucks, especially here, although
the local FOX station seems to be making a try at a decent fact filled
newscast but, I don't think the ratings are very good. I'm a news
junky, and I guess I'll always get a paper. The paper kind, the
kind you can take to the jon.
Map junkies, check out ncroads.

Locked myself out of the old truck today.
Came out of the old Texaco and there they were, sitting right there on
the front seat, so innocently, like they had done nothing wrong.
Thirty-five dollars and thirty-five minutes later, I was in my truck
again. Thanks A + Lock and Key, or AA locksmith, or A One Locks R
Us. What ever, they all started with an A.
I think I'm going to book a flight next month
for Salt Lake City, I miss the devil out of my man, and that's a lot of
missing cause he's got a lot of devil in him. I need to get on a
schedule so I can get moved out there. I can't see staying here
until June like was originally planned. I need to save a lot of
money so I don't have to live off him or deplete my savings, plane trips
are a great way of doing that but I don't care.
..........
31 January 2001
I love the map store. I stopped by today
to get some Utah and Salt Lake City maps. I'm scooting out there
at the end of the month to visit and take a look around, and do lots of
exploring. I figure when I get home, I can put the house up for
sale and see what happens from there. Maybe by the time my
birthday comes around in April, I'll be living in Utah. I've got
ideas for employment, but nothing firm, but that's OK, because that was
what I was most worried about.
I also got the $127.81 phone bill today.
God all mighty, I've never had it this high. Duncan used the
calling card without dialing 1-800-BELLSOUTH. So good old AT&T
kicked in. I hate AT&T so much, it was for the simple reason
(that it's a legal criminal organization) that I stopped using them
years ago. It cost $6.18 for a ONE minute call using a calling
card. AT&T Sucks!
Well I get to go look at my maps now, almost as
good a porn ya know. Almost.
