Is this rain ever going to end?  Will I ever be able to leave the house again?  Get in the Jeep with the top down and let the wind blow through my hair?  Will Noah be coming by to save me?  Ok, so this is the first day it's really rained so much and I wear a cap to protect my shaved head from the sun and I've only been inside for 4½ hours.  I confess.

Road Trip June:  OK, that says it all.  But we did get to visit the metropolis of Duncan, NC.  It's one of those places that has the name of the place on both sides of the sign instead of two different signs and we also got to eat at Biscuitville for the first time.  Biscuits for lunch.  Could it be any more South?  Drove through Pinehurst but didn't stop in on the LPGA but did stop in on Ray and Tommy.

A discussion today about etiquette ensued and I was informed that gay people are the most neat and polite people around.  "A stereotype" I replied, because I happen to know from personal experience, that is not true.  Although I am a pretty neat person, etiquette is not my strong suit.  I don't like rules that tell how a person should be proper and I always hated that Miss Manners column in the paper, I didn't even like her picture.  I feel people know how to be polite and know when they're being rude, they just don't care.  I hold the door for all people, not just old people, not just women, not just disabled people.  My old job required me to go into many establishments and I think most people follow those rules.  Need an exception, old ladies never hold the door but are the first to expect it to be held for them.  Me, stereotyping?

Beautiful sunrise Ducks are good swimmers Ducks fishing with people fishing in the background

Just some beautiful pics from an early morning bike ride.  Now I'll go sit outside and read the paper.  It would make a great song.

Hardees used to be the place to go when I was a kid.  Unfortunately, it has become only a shell of it's former self.  The day they started frying their burgers instead of charcoal-broiling them was the day they wrote their death certificate.  It used to be a fun place for kids to go, like McDonalds is today.  Very cartooney.  Gilbert Giddyup and Speedy McGreedy were their version of Ronald and the Hamburgler.  Now, with a few exceptions, it's just bad service.  The food is actually not that bad when compared to McDonalds, it just takes four times as long to get it.  Thanks Duncan for the pic and a good memory of one of my favorite old commercial jingles, "Hurry on down to Hardees, where the burgers are charcoal broiled" by Mama Cass and the New Your Jets.

Rain rain go away, come again some other day.  Jeep was floating

All the water has subsided now.  All is quiet.  Last night, this parking lot and creek a couple blocks from my house were under water with cars floating in them.  A lot of lightning and thunder with power a flickering.  The small town of Speed evacuated.  The sun is out now and it is beautiful.

Today is Father's Day and I want to thank my dad for being all right.  God I know I'm lucky because almost every day I see some loser with his kids.  I'll never be a father and that's ashamed because I would be a good one.  I had a good teacher.

See the bunnyOur new neighbors have moved into the neighborhood.  There is a whole family of bunnies living here and they are welcomed by all, except the dogs.

Today I started running.  It wasn't so bad at all.  First, I love being outside, I hate working out, yes I've tried it a few times, and I actually went what I think was pretty far for a first time.  Each day I will go farther.  Not having a job that is physically demanding gives me the energy to do things I just didn't feel like doing before.  I usually don't commit to something unless I fell sure I will carry it out.  Hey, I've been called the "king of non committal" many times so this is something.  I'll keep you filled in.  Are those quotes OK David?  Grammar is not my strong point.  Maybe I should have italicized.

I log on tonight and the first thing I see was that Carroll O'Connor died.  No details yet.  I grew up on All In The Family.  It was the most politically charged shows of the time and of course I didn't understand all the nuances and innuendo that were going on.  It was only later in reruns that I would learn the full influence of the show.  The seventies were a fun time but there was still a lot of taboo television.  All In The Family broke a whole lot of them.  Whether it was religion, race, homosexuality, feminist issues, ethnic issues, or adultery, It was covered in a way that was not politically correct.  Archie didn't care.  As the show moved on, Edith died and Archie mellowed dramatically.  I caught an All In The Family weekend marathon recently on TV Land and could not be moved from the TV.  Hey, you can't forget In The Heat Of The Night either.  O'Connor's brilliance shines bright while surrounded by some of the worst actors on television that I can't help but to watch.  Oh and don forget Kelly's Heroes and Not with My Wife, You Don't!

In memory of Carroll O'Connor

What an excellent weekend.  I finally had a chance to go to Charlotte and for three days no doubt.  Saw many, many people I haven't had the opportunity to see in quite a while.  OK, so it really hasn't been that long but it's the longest I've ever been away from there.  Got to see Rob & Sherry, Michael & Lara, Nathan & Jennifer, Steve, Randy, Brenda, Grommit, Kathy, Mike, and many, many more.  Mysteriously, I also found myself eating at three of my favorite restaurants and buying gas for $1.35, go figure.  Thanks for the great hospitality Michael & Lara and Nathan & Jennifer.  I miss all of you guys.
