I've been thinking too hard about
nothing today, feeling philosophical I guess. Here's some of my
favorite thoughts.
1. It is the empty space in the bowl that makes it
useful
2. Don’t
take life seriously because you’ll never come out of it alive anyway
3. Profanity is a small mind trying to express itself
forcefully
4. Happiness
is not a destination, but a way of traveling
5. The
eye of a friend is a good looking glass
6. Until
you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be content with what you
have
7. Everyday practice emptying your mind of all unhealthy
attitudes
8. Go forward if you can’t go straight
9. Whatever

Pullen Park, Raleigh, NC. A one hundred year old park still
running strong. Home to an antique carousel, restored some years
ago and thought to be the only one with ostriches. I took
eighty-eight pics around the city today and plan on taking more in the
next few months. When I finish, I will be making a Raleigh page
much like the page I made when I lived in Charlotte.

Was it Godzilla who was
responsible for the sub station blowing up down the street last
night? Probably not. I'm watching the original Godzilla
movie right now. You know I'm a sci-fi freak so I couldn't pass
this up. Monster movies (old ones) are some of my favorites.
The first time Godzilla makes his appearance still gives me
chills. Rodan has the be his smartest villain but I think Mothra
is my favorite, you know, with the little fairies and all. And who
would have thought that Raymond Burr would have enjoyed being in that tent
with a guy in his underwear.

Well, I think I go out into the
96° heat and the code red ozone and ride my bike now. She was all right.
Anybody know anything about NT?

Two parties and 275 miles
yesterday. No wonder I'm tired. Top that off with the fact
that I read this story and ended up balling, and then tried to
study for a test and realized I have no idea what's going on with that
class and you see why I ended up biting Duncan's head off this
morning. (I'm better now) One of the parties was with his
college friends and they get together quite frequently. There must
be thousands of them. Me? I still see three of the people I
went to college with which is weird because we were all so close.
Who would have thought back then. Anyway, I always like a good
road trip and this one was no different, except for the many downpours
we encountered. Spivey's Corner, Hollerin' Capital of the World, I
need not say more?

I remember it like it was
yesterday but it's been 24 years ago. Elvis Presley had died of a
heart attack. He was on the toilet they said. He overdosed
they said. He committed suicide they said. Today it is
accepted that he died of a cardiac arrhythmia even though he was
addicted to stimulants and depressants. Whatever. To this
day one of my favorite songs is his version of Suspicious Minds. I was just a kid lying on
the floor with my brother when we heard the news. We called my mom
and she thought we were kidding. After a while, we convinced her
and she started to cry.
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds...........

Dream last night:
I was stuck in an elevator with Melissa Ethridge and the girl who played
the weird
mortician girl from Six Feet Under a couple of weeks ago who was also
Melissa Ethridge's girlfriend. We had this great talk and I told
her what it was all about. She gave me a autographed picture and
it turned out we were visiting the same person in Roanoke VA.
Anybody else think Michael C. Hall is hot? Something about him
when he smiles.

This man has been in
office since I was seven years old. Many refer to Jessie as The
Great Evil, some as The Great Savior. Whatever you
believe, today he will announce his rein will be over. Over the
last few years, he has become a lot less visible because of his health
and we should probably thank him very much for not pulling a Strom Thurmond.
Personally, I am glad North Carolina will be getting some more fresh blood
in office. Of course, as you probably realized, I fall into the
stereotypical group that hates Jessie. (We refer to him as Jessie
in these parts) On thing I respect Jessie for is the fact you
always know where he stands. He says it bluntly and boldly and
fuck you if you don't agree. I guess now is where I should say,
"I will miss you Jessie", but I won't. Don't let the
door hit you in the ass.

So the neighborhood prepares for
what is supposedly the largest block party on the east coast. The "Brent Road Party", as it is called, is
the first weekend after school starts at NCSU and until last year when
the police cracked down, drew about 15,000 people from all over.
Last year, the police put up no parking signs as far as the eye could
see and arrested more than 300 people. Starting at 8AM, 500 police
officers were deployed on the street where every house host it's own
party that eventually spills into the street.
I've heard the term jeep urinal,
so I guess it'll be hiding around back.

Brent Road Party.
Been there, done that. A bunch of angry drunk college kids on
sidewalks while the police lined the streets like there is some kind of
military action. I don't think I saw anyone coming close to having
a good time. Maybe the pretty boys being arrested will have a good
time later as they are taken advantage of in the big house. Seems
like in my day (Oh God, I sound my dad) a person could go out and get
drunk, have a good time and go home. Does everything have to be so
political? Just have a good
time.
But Earlier today, the Virginia
road trip was pretty cool as we returned sun burned and tired but well
versed in the geography of the area and a new fact learned was powerball is not
available there. (A main reason for the trip)

Tomorrow will be the last new show. There will be no
announcement so not to upset the little ones. It seems that
everything I grew up seems to be disappearing lately. Of course I
haven't watched Mister
Rogers in about 30 years, (honestly) and for many years we made fun
of him but in this day of commercial, loud, obnoxious, children's
programming, it's sad he had to retire. I'm sure e-bay will be
busy.
Maybe he will continue to use his
time for important issues.
