76' YELLOW Honda Civic Sportswagon87' Gray Nissan Sentra
95 Cherry Red Nissan Truck97' Jeep Wrangler TJ

I'm using this weekend to scan old pictures, you know, before all that digital stuff.  I came across a picture of my very first car. A BRIGHT yellow Honda Civic.  But not just any Civic, a Sportswagon.  I loved that car no matter how much it broke down.  I look back and realized if I would have changed the oil every now and then, it might have been a little more reliable.  I bought it in 1982 for $1600.  My very own money, my very own car.  I drove it until 1987 when after about the fifth wreak or so it was declared totaled.  Hell I still drove it, just couldn't pass inspection.  When I got my forth ticket, I decided maybe it was time to get a new car.  I had a "real" job now, so why not.  My ass is still bleeding from that adventure, but the Sentra was a great car.  Anybody ever used payment life insurance or payment disability insurance?  I think they see kids walk in the door and don't even bother getting out the lube.  In 1995, actually having a good paying job now and even though nothing was wrong with the Sentra, I wanted a truck.  Remembering the 1987 experience, and I always will, I went prepared to the dealership (a different one) and struck a pretty good deal.  A couple years after that, I needed a Jeep.  I needed it bad.  I could have died without it the doctor said.  Really, that's the truth, I swear.  Stop looking at me....

14 September 2001

One of my personality traits is than when I'm down or depressed, I usually just withdraw, hence I haven't had a lot to say this week when so much is going on.  I haven't sleep well this week and as I talk to other people, I see it's not just me.  Today, they interrupted class because they were told to get a list of everybody who was in the Reserves, National Guard, a Veteran, or if you were married or had a significant other who fell into this category.  It just seemed very odd.

Quote of the day:
"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'"

And on that, I bid adieu as I insert my link me icon that I made simply because I can't bring myself to put up my normal smiley.

Jeep trip today.  Before we knew it we were waiting in line waiting to enter the locked down Seymour Air Force Base.  Not wanting to arise suspicion in these days that prelude war, we waited in line and gave the soldiers the stupid reasons which happened to be the truth why we were waiting to enter the base.  They let us enter only to turn around and exit through the maze of barricades they had set up at the exit.  I wanted to say something encouraging to them as we left but I felt a total lost of words.

It's banned book week at many public libraries so be sure to drop by and check out To Kill A Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, The Color Purple, Heather Has Two Mommies, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Goosebumps, or even a Harry Potter Book.

In front of the Cape Hatteras Light House, closed for repairsRoad trip, Fall 2001.  Yea, it's Fall.  Finally took off to the Outer Banks after many years of putting it off.  Living in Charlotte, it was always closer to go to Myrtle Beach or to the mountains for a weekend trip but here, though still far, it's very viable.  We left Friday afternoon and were home this afternoon.  Seven-hundred miles later, we drove the whole Coastal Highway, NC Hwy 12.  We visited three light houses, including the Cape Hatteras Light House, the Wright Brothers Memorial, and the only place on Earth where the ocean currents from the south and north meet to form rifts in the middle of the water, very interesting to watch.

Didn't you know North Carolina was settled by aliens, explains Jessie Helms, huh?
