2 April 2002
Today has been sort of melancholy. First I learn our next door
neighbors are moving next month. Probably two of the nicest people
I have ever come across in my life. From the day we moved in, they
were there. You just can't take for granted having great neighbors
these days. They will be missed. Also, the kid across the
street died. He died quietly in his sleep from a heart
murmur. He was only twenty. I had already been thinking of
my dad who has been changing the last couple of months. I can't
quite put my finger on it but my mom has also noticed it. I even
wore his navy dog tags today for no reason other than it made me feel
good. Just a strange day to top off the fact that I just don't
feel good this week.
McDonalds, their slogan used to be 100% Pure Beef.

Whew! What a night. I don't have nightmares but I had
five last night. I decided to try out another bedroom because
Duncan is out of town. What the heck right? I woke up five
times in panic mode. Shameful thing is because I was in another
bedroom, I didn't have a notebook under the mattress to right them down
for dreamscape. All
memories were gone as I woke up this morning.
Dudley
Moore's, Songs Without Words, more than ten years after
it's release and a week after his death hit number one this week.
I was glad to find out it was an instrumental album and from what little
I've heard, it's not so bad. But for me, my day will consist of Joan
Osborne and the zoo.

A day at the zoo with the family minus
Duncan who's still in Las Vegas. We had a stupendously great day
but I still miss you baby.

10 April 2002
Boy, it is raining. Up early and no place to go. Duncan
is still in Vegas so Kaleb and myself got up to go on our morning walk
but it's just not gonna happen in the rain. I have really come to
enjoy our morning walks even though it means we must get up an hour
earlier than we used to. With Duncan working so much, it has
become our hour to talk, whether it's just goofing on each other or
having a serious conversation. At times I may even make up a song
or two. (or three....) I've been threatened by the law not
to do it in public any more so he must deal with my ramblings.
Duncan should be back about 7:30 Saturday morning and at 11:30, he's off
to Detroit.

10 April 2002...Later
What's not
good with Tabasco
Sauce poured over it? Hummm.... Maybe ice cream or some
other delicious creation that may be purchased at Dairy Queen or my new ice cream taste sensation, Marble Slab.
But I digress. I can think of no better solution for the North Carolina farmers who have
relied on tobacco for so many years than these nifty red peppers used
for this red hot, burn your mouth, throat , eyes, nose, and other lower
body parts sauce.
For now, I'm going settle back and vege tonight with Enterprise and SouthPark.
Between the two, Mary J
should fit in nicely and maybe even some Joan
Osborne. As for Duncan, an
update. He should
arrive back in town Saturday morning at 7:30 and he's off the
Detroit at 9:30. With any luck, he'll leave the secure area at the
airport and I might even get to see him. Miss you.

- Oh! Spoons! Can I assume the potatoes will be mashed tonight?
- There's some milk in the fridge that's about to go
bad.........And there it goes.
- My Sloppy Joe is all sloppy and no Joe!

Mexican POW camp.
I love Bobby Hill
Today I had my first job interview in years an I must say, not too
shabby. I have been on the other end, many, many times, and I
usually just asked whatever came into my mind. Today I was
answering a pre-made list of questions today after taking a kick ass
skills test first. I'm getting excited. I'm almost in the
real world again.

13 April 2002
Today started with my twenty minute visit with Duncan at the airport
before he proceeded to Detroit. He has now been in five different
airports today. Las Vegas, Atlanta, Raleigh/Durham, Chicago, and
Detroit. I also had hours of jeepin' and jammin' and a great visit
with Ray
and Tommy. After a very stressful week, it was good.

Busy doing a lot of nothing today. Can't think of a better way
to spend a Sunday afternoon. I did manage to catch up on many
tasks including scanning my old
maps (a hobby of mine) and getting them on-line finally. Take
a look. When I have some time, I plan to put in pop ups with
the inserts for each map on each page.

Here's to you Robert

16 April 2002...Later
Driving to school seemed no different to me today than any other
day. I was waiting at the light to make a left turn, screwing with
the radio or something like that, and BOOM! I looked to see what
happened and it was James. He was breathing but unconscious.
After I called 911, I did what I could but honestly, I wasn't sure what
to do. Guess that's what I get for dropping out of EMT training.
It seems he pulled out in front of this girl who was by this time,
sitting on the side of the road crying but unhurt for the most
part. James was in his seat belt but had no air bags. The
girl had air bags. After they took him away in the ambulance, I
haven't heard how he is. He has already had the suckiest of
years. This is the last thing he needs.

16 April 2002...Later
I'm going to the airport. Gonna pick up Duncan.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Haven't seen him in almost two
weeks. I'm soooo happy. I'm making myself sick writing.

17 April 2002
Hummm....
It was a year yesterday and I
forgot.

21 April 2002
Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth and Happy Birthday Iggy Pop and Happy
Birthday Beth. Oh, and Happy Birthday to me! And a great
birthday it was. Spent with great friends and great family.
Thanks for all.

28 April 2002
Busy, busy weekend. My favorite part was picking up this swell
hundred year old English Draw Leaf Table at the flea market
yesterday. This may be the coolest thing we own. Our goal
was to pick up some strawberries on the way out. It's much bigger
than a strawberry. Oh well. Also hit the local AIDS benefit
party where our host raised a thousand dollars. Even better, I
got my hands on a 1952 Esso map for my collection
and am learning the ropes on our new riding lawn mower.
Well our 15 year old new lawn mower. It's like a miniature
Jeep.
For now, I must go finish my eighth load of laundry.
