Every year on this day, just like normal, many newspapers have
headlines or articles in them which are only jokes just to get a rouse
out of you. This year, things have surely changed. It's
ashamed that many people feel you can't laugh or make fun of
anything. Since the war began, the entire Good Morning
America show has been dedicated only to the war. Every person
you encounter eventually mentions the war. I don't want to put the
war out of my mind, I only wanted my traditional April Fool's
Day article in the paper.
Happy Birthday to Ray.
I have known Ray longer than I haven't known him. In several
months, it will be twenty years. I'd do anything for him and I'm
sure the reverse is true too. He has helped me through a lot of
stuff that I don't think I could have handled by myself. We've
both done a whole lot of changing over the years. Some scary,
some not.
It's is also Kaleb's birthday, she is
eleven and she still acts like a puppy, an old lazy puppy.

I was in the grocery store parking lot carrying my bags when I heard
a woman yelling for help in the distance. I looked around and
didn't see anything. I put my bags on the seat and heard it
again. I started walking toward the calls and heard the call for
help again. I knew I needed to do something but where was the
source of this call for help? I kept following it and found what I
was looking for. I looked down on the ground and there it
was. A flock of gulls were playing in the parking lot behind a
mound of snow and it was one bird's repeated call that sounded just like
a woman yelling for help. Me, thankful I did not call 9-1-1.
I also felt like jubilating in the street when I saw the citizens of
Iraq pull down the statue of Saddam Hussein. Then there was the
soldier blowing a bubble, there will be more scenes to remember, more
scenes to forget. Looting, death of innocents and journalist. That
is war. For me, it's off to the record store. I have the
freedom to do so. I can't remember the last time I bought any
music for myself and I'm actually into the Lisa Marie Presley CD. So it's that and
whatever else strikes my fancy when I get there. Maybe Coldplay, Linkin Park, or even some Cher. I really miss Media Play, our
mailman is hot, I burnt my lunch, and fixed my broken tailgate all by
myself. Otherwise, the part would have cost me 50 bucks.
Just thought you'd like to know.

87° yesterday, 25° tonight. Big changes a coming. The
temperature dropped 25° in 2½ hours this afternoon. I can get
spoiled so fast.
At the paint store yesterday, I was getting some paint mixed, teal to
be exact for one of the bedrooms, and when they opened it up, it looked
like mustard. They mixed my teal again and I inquired what they
would do with the other gallon. They sell it for five bucks and
mark it off fifty percent. For $2.50, I bought the mustard and
another incorrectly mixed color. I am now painting the last
bedroom mustard and it actually looks good. What's not good is the
reason I was there to begin with. The painting has gone so well I
decided to screw it up by stopping by the Wal-Mart Supercenter and
getting my paint there instead of my usual place where they know what
they're doing. The paint started one color and finished another
color. This was with shaking before pouring every time. I
was so pissed I had to buy more paint and put another coat up.
Lesson learned.
No lesson learned for Kaleb.
She has never dug a hole in her life. Yesterday while working in
the yard, I watched this dog dig a hole a foot deep and then become
consumed with it. If her ball is in that hole, I can't find it and
neither can she.
I forgot jeeptick was three years old earlier this month. It actually
started in March but somehow I deleted that page by accident not long
after. It may be time for an update. Think I'll put a
sweatshirt on...

While painting around the vent in a bedroom, I could hear everything
coming from the other bedroom. It reminded me of when I was a
kid. My brother and myself would get in trouble at the same time
frequently, usually for fighting. We would talk to each other
through the heat vents. It was the only time we got along because
we now had a common enemy. It was only later we learned my mom
could hear everything. She told us one time we called her every
bad name in the book and said we hated her. It really hurt her
feelings but I think she realized kids talk before they think, even if
hurtful. Hell, a lot of adults do it too.

No Parking vs. No Standing. We are allowed to stand in front of
our house today because it is Saturday. No Standing Mon Wed Fri
Until 9AM Next Day. That is the sign. We may stand on
Tuesday, Thursday, and on weekends. I had never seen the term No
Standing until we moved here and it required a little research
because you also see signs for No Parking, or No Stopping,
or combinations of all three. FYI...
No Stopping: A vehicle may not stop at the curb for any reason.
No Standing: A vehicle may not stop except when actually picking up or
setting down persons.
No Parking: A vehicle may not park except when actually picking up or
setting down persons or goods.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for a birthday complete with beautiful
flowers. I actually forgot the fact that it was my birthday until
I opened up my Yahoo page and it wished me a happy one. And thank
you to everyone who sent their b-day wishes. Today, it is Earth
Day and it is raining. Seems like ten years ago, Earth Day was
such a big deal and for the last few years, no one seems to mention
it. I guess we're all perfect environmentalists now.

Wow! I have been approved to be in the Handyman Club of
America. I received this swell membership card and according to
the Code of Conduct, I can't share these benefits with anyone so
please, don't ask. I must also maintain the club's high standards
of workmanship and safety as well as conducting myself in a courteous
fashion while wearing or displaying the club's emblem. When I
join, I'll receive a great pocket flashlight and I've already received a
nifty plastic thing that shows how big your drill bits are. It
must be worth in excess of 3¢, and don't forget the great address
labels I got. The only problem is the Code of Conduct.
There's just no way I'll be able to live up to those high standards and
I know that. All you have to do is to look at some of the things
I've built. And what if I need to get in a fight at the gas
station while wearing my emblem. It just won't work so I guess
I'll just have to decline the membership full of free stuff for only $1
a month.

I had a dream last
night about my high school reunion for which I received an invitation
for a couple of days ago. I really haven't decided if I am going
or not. It's a long trip these days and high school is not really
something I look back fondly on. It's not that it was a bad
experience, I just did not really enjoy it. I was shy and reserved
and did not understand why I was different. That came during
college I guess. College was fun. There are a few people I
would like to see, see what they've become, and for them to see what
I've become so I still may go. We'll see...
