As we're riding around in the Jeep, I say to Duncan, "If this whole gay marriage thing becomes legit in New York, you wanna get married?" He said, "Hell of a proposal." But he said yeah...and that's kind of cool.

Duncan spent a couple of days in North Carolina this week. They were finishing up some of the last details of his parents' estate. He brought home this great old table clock that has real chimes and will chime, just not when it's supposed too. I spent two hours cleaning it yesterday. It is beautiful. He also brought some china and an old china cabinet that has two curved windows on the side though one is broken. Thirdly, he brought home some Chick-Fil-A. I love Chick-Fil-A.

This is a letter from the local editorial page.

Urge vote to outlaw same-sex marriage

The US. Senate is poised to vote on the Marriage Protection Amendment, and the stakes couldn't be higher for our country and its future generations.

Amendment opponents have asked, "How does one couple's gay marriage threaten anyone's heterosexual marriage?" This question misses the point: The goal of gay activists isn't the individual relationship of any two people; it is the revision of national policy to say that gender, especially in child rearing, is inconsequential.

Why is the MPA so essential? Because without it, marriage is at the mercy of judicial activists bent on overriding the will of the people and the role of the legislative branch, by creating homosexual marriage.

So don't delay. Contact your senators today, and urge them to support the Marriage Protection Amendment.

KRISTINE LYTLE

What the hell does this mean? "The goal of gay activists... is the revision of national policy to say that gender, especially in child rearing, is inconsequential." These are the kind of people who vote. They take this information and they pass it around to other stupid unlearned people and they walk into the voting booth and push the button for some fool who is in the back pocket of the conservative  right, AKA George W. Bush, because they are scared.

Here's one that doesn't surprise me. Northeast has dumbest drivers. OK, that's a CNN headline, not mine. People have no idea of what those green, red, and yellow lights hanging from the wires over the road mean, what the little lines drawn on the street mean, and God forbid, if I ever see a bicycle riding down the right side of the road, I'll pass out. I scored 100 on that test by the way.

Kaleb the dog

You can barely notice how gray she's gotten on her neck and chin but her tongue still works fine. While putting in the air conditioner downstairs, I noticed how it, like everything these days, has a remote. So I counted ours. We have twenty remotes. From the garage door openers to the DVD player. Why do we even have to get out of the chair?

It's raining again.

I see U2 and Mary J. Blige have remade "One", the same song she did on the finale of American Idol with Elliott Yamin. Mary J's voice is to die for but I think the American Idol version was better simply because she seems to hold back on the U2 duet. No matter what she does, when she hits that certain note, it's orgasmic.

I found out one of my buds from work pleaded guilty last week to possession of child porn. They found 600 images of children tied, bound, chained, and urinated on while engaged in sexual activity on his computer. He was caught when he sent videos in chat rooms to undercover police officers in different parts of the country. He used to be a firefighter and part time school bus driver. There is no evidence that he involved himself with any children. He faces up to ten years in federal prison. This is a guy who I really liked and now I find it difficult to hate. I hate anyone who has any connection to child porn. I cannot tell you how much I hate pedophilia. Part of me wants to grab his shirt and shake him. The other part of me wants to see him get some help. Yet another part of me wants to push him down and beat the shit out of him and make him think about that kid that was getting peed on and fucked instead of out playing on their swing or riding their bike.

On the subject, I hate it when anyone who is making an argument against gays who ends the sentence, "...gays and pedophiles", always linking them together.

I put a couple of house plants outside a couple of days ago because they haven't seen the light of day in years. One is a more than seven foot tall palm tree. Both of them fell over in one of the many storms we've had lately. When Duncan came home, he thought I'd had some sort of tantrum and threw them out the back door.

How many people can say their former mayor delivers newspapers. I can. He has a great job though that may come to an end when George Pataki leaves office. Luckily, the Schenectady County Republican Party Chairman is being investigated for groping a fourteen year old girl so his job is open.

Albany Gay Pride

We made it to the pride parade yesterday afternoon and the weather actually cooperated. Saw a couple of friends, visited the still unopened restaurant where a couple of other friends are opening a Mexican joint, and went to the Olive Garden. We haven't been there in years and we both had some unforeseen need to go there. Unfortunately, I changed the setting on the camera to manual and didn't notice so some pictures didn't come out.

And in case you you've been waiting on pins and needles for the past couple of years, although it still needs some (a lot of) tweaking, here are the Schenectady pages I've been working on for a long time. I'm mostly tired of sitting on it.

Oh my God, our almost brand new Krispy Kreme is closing Sunday. I admit, I rarely make it over there but they're so freaking good. A lot of people just don't like them around this area, that  and the Adkins Diet and the bad publicity from the corporate fraud. I, myself, am saddened.

Old Carriage House

I'm all for historic preservation, probably more than most, but there comes a time when you just have to say, let it go. The new neighbors have been working on this old carriage house that I've been waiting to fall down since we moved here. I've been in it. There is not an unrotten board in the place. The windows are broken including most of the sashes, the shutters are in pieces, it's leaning in two directions and the roof is about gone. I say, how about doing a little work on the house you actually live in. I guess, more power to 'em.

KC and the Sunshine Band

After more than six months, we've finally got something to sit the TV on. The stereo is getting set up and we can listen to CD's again. We also finally finished the upstairs bathroom last weekend. I'm done. The porch roofs need some repair and we're actually gonna hire someone else to do it.

Duncan's sister is coming up tomorrow along with his nephew. Their expected stay is about a month. I've gotta be on good behavior for a month. I want to listen to some KC.

I loved the original Pirates of the Caribbean movie but who'd have thought I'd need to remember what it was about for future reference? I remember loving it but I needed to research it to remember anything about it. Doing just that, is easier these days than it used to be, that's for sure.

The city of Schenectady is under a state of emergency much like many other counties in upstate New York. We've been inundated with rain lately and yesterday many areas received up to nine inches with more expected today. We actually didn't receive as much as many places but the Mohawk River is cresting and all of this as well as many other places in the area are now under water. The New York State Thruway is closed for more than a hundred miles between Schenectady and Syracuse as well as many other roads. A section of I-88 collapsed and killed two truck drivers going in different directions. The drivers were killed as they were swept away by the current of the water.

My sister-in-law and Duncan's nephew have been visiting this week. I wish I could say that we've been great hosts but we've been working most of the time. I'm sure we'll be doing something soon.
