This is Kaleb's morning routine this week. When she comes in from
doing her business she gets her treat, then her normal half a thyroid
pill, her normal half an arthritis pill, now her antibiotic in a dropper
because she had some teeth pulled last week, and finally her scoop of
food. She takes longer to get ready for the day than I do. She doesn't
like what's in that dropper. It's 97 degrees right now with a heat
index of 110. It's freakishly muggy when you step out the door. Yea it's
hot and I'm certainly happy we have air conditioners this year. But I'm
still not crying because it could be minus
12 degrees. There could be four feet
of snow on the ground. I'd rather be hot than cold any day. That said,
I'm happy not to be at work out in the nursery today. I talk to my mom
and dad once or twice a week. I love my mom but I actually do a lot more
listening than talking. Sometimes I loose my whole train of thought by
the time she's done so yesterday, I decided to write down everything I
wanted to communicate to her. I tried, God knows I tried, but by the
time we were done, I communicated about three of my ten things I had
listed. After forty minutes on the phone, I'm done, I don't care if I
have to tell her I'm dying. I hate talking on the phone anyway. I know
I'll miss it when it's gone, but until then, I'll keep trying and
complaining. ..........

After a brief storm yesterday, the temperature dropped so I went
outside to watch the birds at the feeder. There must have been 30 of
them. It's kind of peaceful sometimes.
This has been one of those months that everything seems to hit at
once. $350 on the Jeep, 300 on the dog, 200 on a book shelf, (OK, that
was optional) and 200 on a plane ticket. I going to NC in September. For
now, it's off to work I go so I can pay some of those bills. First I
think I'll listen to some LIVE
and Joan Osborne.

We have friends that have been working their asses off for several
months trying to open a new Mexican Restaurant in downtown Albany. It
opened tonight so being ones who can't resist Mexican food anyway, we
marched ourselves down there and tried it out. It was great so if you
live in the area, try Azteca at 4 Central Ave in Albany.

Over the last several days, I developed a hurting sensation on the
left side of my neck under the ear, but only when I push on it or
swallow something big. I went to the doctor today and after running
several test to rule out anything bacterial or viral, they want to do a
CT on my neck tomorrow to see if there is any blockage in the salivary
gland. For the time being, I'll be sucking on hard candy, a lot of hard
candy.

This
is a picture I found of me and my dog when I was a kid, circa ninth
grade. This may have very well have been the second best dog ever, we
know who's first. We got him when I
was in third grade and he died right after I graduated.
This
one's probably around forth grade. I got my CT scan yesterday. You
have to stay completely still but at the same time, they're making you
laugh the whole time. They're supposed to call today with the results. Boy
George is supposed pick up trash and clean the streets of New York for
his punishment for falsely reporting a break in. Is cleaning trash
really that bad of a punishment? Sure Boy George has always been Boy
George and I'm glad he existed in the 1980's. I think just being visible
he did a lot for the movement. Being said, these days, he does nothing.
Does anyone else think he looked like Joan Cusack back in the day? ..........
12 August 2006 I got the result of my ct
scan by the way and there was nothing there. My throat has stopped
hurting anyway so we're just gonna see if it stays good. Who knows what
it was? It cost me $50 to fill my tank this week. ..........

After a nap with Kaleb on this beautiful day, it was time for grilled
steaks with Kaleb getting the bone. After that it was Jeep time and
Family Guy. We never eat steaks so it was quite nice and also, Kaleb has
only had about three bones in her life. She had a blast but now has gas.
Do I really have to work tomorrow?

I shaved my head completely last night. Although I've buzzed it down
a few times before, this is the first time I've taken a razor to it.
Usually I leave about a half inch on top and buzz it pretty short on the
sides. The whole razor thing wasn't as hard or time consuming as I
thought but I don't know if I've made the commitment to it yet. One
minute I like it and the next I'm not sure. A long way from when I was a
kid and my nickname is "Cool Hair". Today
was a beautiful day so my intention was to ride around and maybe take
some pictures and see some scenery. I took a few but after I ripped my
shorts on a guard rail, I mostly just road around, enjoyed the weather
and took pictures of myself driving. I just remembered I was supposed
to be at a meeting at work an hour and a half ago. It's over by now. Oh
well, it was an honest mistake. How did I miss Graham
Ackerman? ..........
16 August 2006 Oh my God, they arrested
somebody for the murder of Jonbenet
Ramsey today. No details as of yet but her parents have been under a
cloud of suspicion for ten years. Had these people cooperated with
authorities at all, I wonder if this person would have been found a long
time ago. If these people would have not been so strange and greedy, I
wonder if this person would have been found a long time ago. Had they
not dressed up six year old Jonbenet like a whore, I wonder if this
person would have been found a long time ago. I hope this is the right
guy and he suffers greatly if convicted. The 9/11 911 calls were
released today. I listened to many of them, I advise you not to. ..........

I only bought it because it was green. I'm not sure if I'm going to
eat it yet. When I was 18, maybe 19, I registered to vote and I
registered unaffiliated. I've voted in almost every election and primary
I've been eligible for since then. In North Carolina, unaffiliated
voters can choose which primary to vote in. In new York, you can't do
that. I've always hated both political parties for both the same and
different reasons. This morning, on this last day to change your party
affiliation before the democratic primary, I went down to election
headquarters to become a democrat. One of the candidates for Attorney
General, Sean
Patrick Maloney, is gay. Although that is not his platform and he doesn't have a
good chance of winning, I like what he has to say and it would be great
to have an Attorney General who is gay. I am a democrat. I've never said
that before and I feel kind of dirty. ..........

before and after...

before and after...
My project for today, getting rid of the fifty
year old farce that passed for landscaping in the backyard at one time
and putting in something new and pretty. I like working in the yard but
that shovel thing is for the dogs. One of the things I dug up was this
bush thing that strongly resembled the switch tree in our side yard
growing up that my mom would get her switches from. They were long, easy
to pull off and the leaves could be removed in about one second by
grabbing it with your fingers and pulling the switch through quickly.
Those things hurt. If you saw the Comedy Central roast to Pamela
Anderson last year, be sure and check out this year's roast to William
Shatner. I am still hurting from laughing so hard.

I'm
still shaving
my head. It's really a lot easier than I thought it would be though
I still haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or not. Duncan was
making fun of me because he said I had girl shaving cream in the shower.
Lo and behold, he was right. Seems
my manly shaving cream turned into girl shaving cream before my
eyes. Whatever, it smells good. I worked all night last night. I got
to bed about 6 this morning. It's official, I'm to old for this shit.
Now find me some Lawanda Page. ..........

My God, how could they even think about tearing
this restaurant down? My dad used to take me there on weekends when
we'd go out to pick up the stuff he needed for his job the following
week. Later me and my brother would hit the joint because it has some of
the best soul food and southern cooking around. The outside
bathrooms are usually disgusting but the inside was always a mixture of
blue collar/white collar and black and white. Sit at the counter or at a
table and you talk to the person next to you. Good luck to the
people trying to save it but this is Charlotte, where newer is
usually better.
