Just a small trip to the mountains of southern Albany County today
and we got to see our first small bit of snow for the season. Maybe
it'll be the last. There was a time when I loved to see the snow
fall. Now it's just another chore. The local political campaigns this season are the most vicious I've
seen since the eighties and nineties North Carolina Senate Jesse
Helms/Jim Hunt campaigns. These are a little better though because in
addition to the he said she said crap, there's embezzlement, wife
beating, drunk driving, spying, wire tapping, jail breaks, and more. We also
have champions Hillary Clinton and Eliot Spitzer. On Tuesday, I can't
wait to vote. You too.

07 November 2006 Today I voted. I voted for
all Democrats except for two Republicans. One Republican was also an
Independent so I pulled that lever instead hereby I only voted for one
Republican. The one Republican I voted for was because Alan Hevesi embezzled
state employees for his own family's benefit. I felt good in that I had to
stand in a small line tonight but didn't have to stand in a long line
tonight. The most contentious race is between Kirsten Gillibrand and John
Sweeney for the 20th Congressional District. I live in the 21st so I don't
vote there but this is the battle that definitely interests me the most. I
think that every vote for either one will really be a vote against the
other. They both suck. ..........

We now have a governor and an attorney general that support gay
marriage. Congress and The Senate are now majority democratic, though I
don't know that means anything, and Hillary Clinton "would not
oppose any measure to make gay marriage legal" but I assume that
means she's not touching it with a ten foot pole. Considering all, I
don't feel that hill is so steep today.
I work with this guy who is a staunch republican. When he came in
yesterday, he was so mad it was funny and I knew exactly what was
bothering him. I said you're mad because the republicans lost big. Yea,
he was actually mad. When I got home last night, I found out they had
decided the Montana and Virginia senate races and I tried to call him
and rub it in but I couldn't get up with him to rub it in.
Oh, did I mention sayonara Donald Rumsfeld.
A man is in trouble because he tried to hire a man to kill the man
who raped his 13 year old niece. Is this really a crime?

Turducken:
a de-boned turkey stuffed with a de-boned duck, which itself is stuffed with a small de-boned chicken. The cavity of the chicken and the rest of the gaps are filled with, at the very least, a highly seasoned breadcrumb mixture or sausage meat, although some versions have a different stuffing for each bird. Some recipes call for the turkey to be stuffed with a chicken which is then stuffed with a duckling.
Hannaford will be
selling this southern delicacy this holiday season. I thought about
putting up some Christmas lights outside today, you know, before the
snow starts falling but seeing how it's almost 70 outside, I thought
better of it. It's freakishly warm outside and in reality, it's too
early. Last night in a dream, my sister was Mary J. Blige. I wish I
remembered more. Next week is Thanksgiving and we're having family up.
I'm thrilled actually. This is the first time we've had family here for
Thanksgiving. We've either gone to North Carolina, or gone to The Macy's
Day Parade, and last year we had friends over. I doubt we'll be having
turducken though. ..........

We’re watching the Macy’s parade in the living room as Duncan and his sister work on the Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen, as they like to put on a spread. My part is the macaroni and cheese and gravy. We have family in town this year but unlike last year’s snow, we’re only getting a little mist outside. They’re a little upset because there’s no snow but I haven’t even been here on a white Christmas yet. We put up ‘lots’ of Christmas lights outside yesterday with the help of Christina and I set them with timers so I don’t have to think about them and they’ll be on when I get home from work. I’m sure after dinner we’re off for an afternoon ride maybe to the mountains or to Albany.
I am thankful for so much.

November 2006 Today at work, in the usual Thanksgiving, "How
was your Thanksgiving?" talk, two people told me they ate so much
they threw up. Come on, I thought I ate a lot. Our Thanksgiving was
great and would've been even if there was only one tenth of the food.
Family and bull shitting, that's what it's all about. I talked to my
folks today and it's always interesting because I can have the same
conversation with my dad three different times. He did know today was
their 57th wedding anniversary though. I doubt he got her anything but I
suspect all she wants is for him to take his medicine without her having
to do much bitching which he has actually been doing lately. I guess
we'll go to the Schenectady parade tonight and do some traveling this
weekend. .......... |
