Click for larger Christmas Tree

I got up too early this morning you see. I went shopping and came home and put up decorations along with the tree complete with a candy cane theme. I got to use the giant lights I bought on clearance last year so I've had to wait a year to use them. I had planned to put them outside but we only needed one set last week along with the cool chili pepper lights on the garage. I've wanted some nutcrackers for a while so I picked up a couple of them today also. One straight, one gay. Too much time on my hands. Can you tell Duncan is out of town?

Long hard week is over, Duncan is back in town, and I'm ready for the weekend. My early Christmas present happens tomorrow when we go and see The Producers at Proctors and maybe some other things fun. Soon I'll see him for the first time for more than 5 minutes this month.

This week has been pretty nice after a rough one last week. On Saturday, Duncan took me to see The Producers along with dinner, which was excellent.  I then had a few easy days at work and then one of my oldest friends was in the area so I got to hang out with him for a day. I met Joe 23 years ago and it surely shows. We hit Azteca, Mikes, and Home Style Pizza, and basically toured the cities and hung out the rest of the time. Tis’ amazing how people change yet stay the same. Is this the same kid who rode his scooter down North Tryon Street to work at a bank?

This is us with the Christmas tree we chopped down with a hammer many years ago.

I actually managed to get my Christmas shopping done this weekend -- except one which is in the plan -- and after waiting in a very long, but fast line this morning at the downtown post office, got them shipped away. This was after it took literally five minutes for the lady to explain to some guy that they just opened and didn't have enough money to cash his money order yet. You understood in one sentence but yet it took this dumbass five minutes. I don't think I'm gonna get around to sending Christmas cards this year because I just don't have the down time for it, but you never know. Anyway, another day close to 50, I'll enjoy it being at work. Tomorrow's high is 36, yet still above normal. I'm talking about the weather so I'll shut up now.

...and you're dancing in the street. I've never seen The Rolling Stones live but I saw Mick Jagger once with Tina Turner and it was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. David Bowie ain't so shabby himself.

Somebody actually named their kid Vitalis.

We had our Christmas party for work this week and it was pretty successful I must say. Everybody brought something and I think each person brought enough to feed twelve. I ate so much sugar I thought I might pass out at any time. I made gumbo myself which was a pretty big hit. Seemed like all the guys cooked food and all the girls baked cookies and deserts and such.

Somebody on this planet actually named their kid Vitalis, I thought you might need to know.

Yesterday for Christmas, we had long given each other our Christmas presents, so after watching It's a Wonderful Life the previous night, we headed to Seneca Falls, the town Bedford Falls was supposedly based on. It's in the heart of the finger lakes region. We also happened upon The Taughannock Falls, the tallest waterfall in the northeast, including Niagara Falls. At the bottom of Cayuga Lake is Ithaca, home to Cornell University. I guess I can say we've explored, though not in a major way, all the areas of the state now except the far southwest around Jamestown.

Why won’t it snow? This time of year, it’s supposed to be getting up only to around 33 degrees yet it’s getting into the 40’s or more every day. We haven’t had any snow this year and I want some. Why is this? I’ve decided I hate snow not long after we moved here. We’re entering our fifth winter here and we always leave for Christmas and there’s always some snow around while we’re gone. This year, we stayed here and I really wanted a white Christmas, never had one, still haven’t. I wanted to see some Christmas lights in the snow. I also want a toboggan, not one of these, but one of these. I want to go over to the park on the hill where all the kids are a play. Why can’t I? Because I would then be a Class A perv. Who’s that gay guy playing with all the kids they would ask. I don’t know, I’ve never seen him before. Let’s get him.

President Ford died last night. He always reminded me of my dad for some reason. My dad’s not quite as old but, in his old age, has the same stature and carries himself in quite the same way as Gerald Ford. Whenever I saw him on TV with some sort of health crisis this year, I flash to my dad. One of those weird things.
