I'm
a little pissed off because mom is supposed to wear her oxygen full time
for these first few days and doesn't and it pisses me off and I told
her.
Ray and Tommy came up and we went out to eat and rode around and
talked and did some shopping. Tommy is down to 1/2 pack a day from 3
packs but still has a lot of work to do. Later in the day we went to my
nephews house for dinner. he has a great dog--a Rat Terrier.
Mom's doing much better today. Went out to eat with
John and Iggy. They're very republican. She would not eat the ketchup
because it was Hunt's Ketchup and she didn't like John Kerry and her was
married to that woman. I didn't tell her that her name was Teresa Heinz
Kerry, not Teresa Hunts Kerry. Just let her go on buying that Heinz
Ketchup. She then ask me who I thought she liked for president. I said
Hillary Clinton. She said no, Mitt Romney. I asked her if she didn't
care he was a Mormon. She said no, at least he wasn't a Muslim like that
other guy. I didn't even tell her Barak Obama was not Muslim. It ain't
worth it.
Flew home
Saturday in a mostly eventless day. I left my mom looking much better as
well as my dad actually. It a definite thing that they'll be selling
their house this spring or summer. I feel like someone let the air out
of me.
This
was my week. See the truck coming at me. The previous eight entries were
made on paper and just transcribed because I haven't been at a computer.
It may not even appear until tomorrow if my site doesn't come back up
soon because I'm going to bed.
It's gonna be 3 degrees tonight and 9
tomorrow. It was 66 in North Carolina.
Thoroughly ready to fall asleep sitting here. I went to the doctor
today about this hoarseness and cough. They are remnants of a virus I
had at the beginning of last month and he gave me some nose spray for
the post nasal drip and some pills for the cough. Yeah, I'm talking
about being sick but this crap's been going on for five weeks and two
doctor's office visits. Eight days in a row of work with only two more
to go. I don't see how people work two jobs, but maybe these pills have
wiped me out.
I haven't had a prescription in a long time so I was
looking at it and noticed they are computer generated now. It had my
name, address and age on it. I know I'm 41 but I don't think I've ever
seen it written out. 41 years, 10 months. There it was. OMG I wrote it
on my note pad. 41 years, 10 months OMG. I just wrote OMG because that's
what I thought. Duncan got in my truck and he knew exactly what it
meant. OMG. OH MY GOD. It's text slang. Who knew? I hate text slang. Why
you ask, because I'm 41 years and 10 months.
We finally got Kaleb's blood test back. The things she doesn't have
is the biggest list. She probably has Cushing's
Disease. Even if we find out it is, Kaleb will be 15 in two weeks so
we'll probably just let her be.
She finally seems to be able to get
past the driveway because the snow is down to about 4 or 6 inches in the
backyard. We've had a beautiful week and she can wallow around like the
low rider she is. Tomorrow however, just as the snow in melting away, we
expect 8 to 16 inches in these parts. No snow until mid February and now
we're getting socked again. I remember not too long ago I was wanting
some snow. What the hell was wrong with me?
A
day after the flooding on the river caused by ice jams (Attention
Southerners: An ice
jam occurs when the ice on the river starts to break up, flows down
stream, gets backed up, and dams the river) it's snowing. 14-20 inches
expected. The plow trucks are already running down the street and may it
not come as fast as the last snow. The Valentines Day storm came so
fast, they did a horrible job keeping the streets clear. I guess this
will be the St. Patrick's Day storm.
We
spent most of the morning cleaning out 15 inches of snow and then it was
riding time and Mexican food. The snow can be so beautiful before it
gets old and dirty. I'm making a VHS tape to send to my mom of all of
our "goings on". She doesn't have a computer so I can't just
send her pictures, clips, and email the old fashioned way. High tech
snail mail all the way. I send her pictures and stuff like that pretty
frequently. It's St Patrick's Day but ain't nothing green
Byrum's
General Store is closing. I went to high school right down the
street from this place and that was when it was in the middle of
nowhere. It was the days of busing so I was a long way from home. Hot
dogs and a can of soda. I could survive on one can of soda in those
days. It's now a very highly developed area.
There are probably three people in the world who don't find watching
a video of Kaleb boring but that's how I spent a couple of hours today.
My mom hasn't seen the dog in quite a while so I made "The Day In
The Life Of Kaleb" for her. I would have put a dog cam on her head
David Letterman style, but who wants to watch a camera on top of a
sleeping dog's head?
We're going to see Hairspray
at Proctors
tonight. It's my anniversary present. I love the original movie
Hairspray movie from the 80's. That kid who played Link, Michael St. Gerard,
was so adorable. How I drooled over him. I wonder what they're gonna do
to make the new
movie that comes out this summer different. Great cast, and the kid
who plays Link is still pretty cute. Hopefully the chick who plays Tracy
Turnblad will not go on to a horrible talk show career which almost
prompted me to throw a shoe through the TV every time I saw it.
Now this
is cool. It's weird, like so many other cities in North Carolina, like
many other states even, steady growth has just been something taken for
granted for decades. Schenectady County had the highest growth rate last
year in New York State. One percent. We're having a party, seriously.
Today I learned my favorite boss is leaving for another location. I
seriously could have cried as could have others. She is the best manager
you could ever have...and she's hot too. She's a mentor, and a friend.
Weather: The snow is finally starting to melt, sunny and temps in the
50's. I just wanna wear shorts. It's spring.
Is it good luck to
step in dog shit first thing in the morning? If so, is it good luck to
spill water in your car seat seconds before you sit down in it? That's
how my day started this morning as I left --late of course-- for work at
5:45 this morning. I had to come back inside and change shoe, pants, and
underwear. Turns out it wasn't a bad day after all. Maybe those things
are good luck.
THE,
local news story for the past week, maybe the ONLY local news story, is
the filming of the season finale of Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition. Hey, granted they picked a great family to
help, but really, they had 15,000 people who applied to be a volunteer
but only 1500 or 2500 got in. I don't remember the exact number. They're
also doing a fundraising concert to raise money for the family tonight.
The concert is free but they're asking for donations. Mind you, this
show makes millions of dollars while all the volunteers are out there in
the cold and rain sloping around in the mud while local businesses
donate a fortune in materials and labor to accommodate them. Local
governments are spending a fortune on police and fire protection. I have
a friend who's a firefighter and they spent all day Saturday directing
traffic which is horrendous around the site. How many millions of
dollars does this highly rated show make for ABC?
Tonight on Idol,
Sanjaya
must go. Chris
and Gina
must step it up a bit because I love them, and Melinda
will always be the best.
I know it's way too early, but the snow is almost gone and the days
are in the 50's and it's sunny...The part of the back yard that doesn't
have snow in it is swampy but I can't wait until I can do some work in
it. I have one more area where I want to plant some shrubs and as
always, I have flowers to plant. The shrubs I planted last year are no
longer covered with snow and they look like they're in excellent
condition. What a late arriving spring it's been.
Besides spring, I want fresh, hot, Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They're
two hours away. There are 109 Dunkin Donuts in the Albany area. I don't
want them. They make their money off coffee for a reason.
Today
I spent a good part of the morning trying to get some new glasses. He
did the old bifocal test for the first time and still no problem there.
I stood there looking at frames for I know an hour until I decided to
ask somebody. Seems like most of the frames were rimless and I don't
think they look good on me. It also seemed like all the others were too
big or too little or not the right color. I picked the best dorky-nerdy
frames I could find and I liked them but the lady talked me out of them.
When we started talking bout money, the lady kept insisting my insurance
only paid $20 for them when I knew it paid everything except a $15 deductible.
I came home and called the insurance company and they told me I
was right. Why I didn't just call there I don't know but we got it
figured out. It would have cost me $217 extra. By the way, I finally
decided to buy the exact frames I have now. Only this time I went for
the transition lenses.
Me and Duncan were walking down Erie Blvd a
couple of days ago. We got mooned. A full fledge moon. The whole ass
coming out the window moon. I couldn't tell if it was a nice ass or not
because they were going too fast. If they would have slowed down, I
could have slapped that ass.
Tomorrow is Kaleb's fifteenth birthday.
She's now Old Kaleb. It's Ray's birthday, too.
