High School Football "Click"

I just got back from a super fast trip to North Carolina. I had a few days and an opportunity so I took it. I got to see just how good my mom is doing and how much I miss my brother and seeing my niece and nephews grow up. I also got to see my ex-sister-in-law who I haven't seen in a couple of years who I also miss like crazy. I attended my first high school football game in several years and believe it or not, those kids were super well behaved. I did know that you had to go through metal detectors but I didn't know high school bands (rich or low income schools) don't wear uniforms, just shorts and t-shirts. As bad as ham is for you, (country ham non-southerners) I went to a ham breakfast at the Lion's Club, yum. Throw some fried squash into the mix and a tad of Bojangles, did I say yum?

I was at work yesterday when I heard two people yelling at each other. I looked through the fence in disbelief. A guy had a girl in a choke hold slamming her against the car. I looked for a second and the yelled I was gonna call the cops. I walked up front to the gate and looked on as the girl got into the backseat voluntarily while they screamed at each other. The guy got into the passenger's seat and the driver drove away.

I don't watch The View but I see Whoopi Goldberg actually defended Michael Vick on her first day saying it was the culture he was raised in having a Southern upbringing and all. Let me say, my Southern family did not have dog fights in our basement. And just because someone is raised in an atmosphere of illegal activity, by the time you are a grown up, I think you know the difference between right and wrong whither your partake in the illegal activity or not. I speed sometimes (though it's hard around here because you're usually stuck behind someone going slow most of the time) but I know it's wrong. People do speed down south and I was raised with that.

Noah's Ark "Click for larger"

Being a kid of television, you'd think I would've seen a lot of old movies. I haven't, and this is something I've just discovered in the past few years. Katherine Hepburn may be my favorite but Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Jane Russell, and Lauren Bacall are all fantastic. See a trend? Strong, independent, beautiful, women.

I guess I've decided to do one small yard project at a time. Yesterday, I dug up and planted grass where we took down two small trees last month. I like getting dirty.

Since Kaleb died, I haven't really walked the neighborhood. Really for the last year because she really hasn't wanted to it for a while. Today I decided to walk to the store, and yes, it started pouring on me half way there and so I was soaked.

Two bigger pieces of trash? I don't think so.

My Watches -- Click for larger images

So I've gone full circle with the watches. I've always worn watches...why a little kid needs a watch, I don't know. I guess so I would know when it was time to watch TV.

Looking at Google Maps, one of life's greatest inventions, I noticed that if you ride on the street we live on from beginning to end without turning, it has seven different names.

Looks like today I'll be getting soaked again for the third day in a row. Yesterday's soaking came at work when 10 gallons of water got dropped on me. Believe me, it's only funny in hindsight. We just had a steady 45 second round of thunder. It was strange.

Six years ago today was 9-11, but I guess you know that.

"A good politician can tell you to go to hell and make you look forward to the trip" & "Marriage was around a long time before organized religion". These are two of the quotes from former Alaska senator Mike Gravel on the LOGO presidential forum that I finally got the time to watch today that originally aired a month ago. I'm not sure what kind of drugs he's doing but I think I want some. In all seriousness, he's 77 and out there saying exactly what he's feeling. Still not a fan of John Edwards (Love Liz) but he seems to want to hedge on stuff he's said but doesn't want to be a hedger or lose support. I watched Bill Richardson flounder but Hilary Clinton stood by her political views, I think, without wavering support. She seems to be able to point out it's been a long hard road and change can be slow. We (nobody) don't like slow.

As I woke up yesterday, I discovered I must have "slept wrong". Every time I turn my head back...ouch!! I find it hard to check my blind spot as I change lanes. I'm a Icy Hot virgin so let me tell you, if you're hairy, shave that shit first because those Icy Hot Patches grab all the adjacent hair and pulls them until they're all gone. I couldn't even feel my neck hurt anymore. Oh, that's how they work. I dread pulling this thing off.

--Click for larger image-- Wasn't the Schenectady cop I saw but just as hot. Not sure where I found this picture.

Fact or fiction? Jim J Bullock was once on The Dating Game. I was told that today but haven't been able to confirm it. Fact or fiction? I really give a crap. I don't.

Have you ever thought that the next two weeks of your life will be totally wasted and you'll never get them back? Lots of overtime doing something that will benefit me in no way other than extra money on the paycheck. Yee Haa...

FYI: It's no fun when the string that hangs from the basement light gets caught on your glasses. (I just typed breakfast instead of glasses, I don't know why) The resulting action can be quite painful.

I saw Schenectady's Segway cop downtown riding around. He was pretty hot. I got kind of a cop thing if you didn't know.

Virginia Vanslyke is bad -- "Click for larger"

Virginia Vanslyke is bad but selling gas for a dime more than any other place in Amsterdam is bad too.

I did actually get the chance to spend the entire day road tripping with Duncan today. What a treat because early tomorrow, we're back at it.

I love you beautiful Marcia, you could have done better than Jan.

Girl In A Coma

I just woke up from an hour long very sound deep sleep nap. Very strange because I'll sometimes take a 15 minute power nap during the day, but unless I take some sort of medication, I don't sleep that hard during the day. My dad used to be out of town for 48 of the 52 weeks of the year and it wasn't unusual for him to sleep all weekend on the couch because he worked a lot of hours during those weeks. I can only imagine how tired he must have been sometimes. I just never understood why he never wanted to do anything. His whole personality changed (for the better) after he retired. The past two weeks for me at work have been exhausting, so I guess I sleep. Monday, I'm back to a regular schedule and the last two weeks will seem like a dream. It's nice to see the daylight.

I'm super excited about Bombers Burrito opening a second location in downtown Schenectady. It's a lot like Phat Burrito in Charlotte if you're familiar with that and somewhat similar to the chain Moe's. Maybe that'll wake me up.

And add this to the list of things I never thought I'd say. Hilary Duff has a new song out I like...Now slap me.

Doesn't Amanda Lepore fronting Girl In A Coma in the video  Road To Home look just like Joan Rivers?

World Grits Eating Championship

The winner of the World Grits Eating Championship is from Chicago and the second place winner is from New York. Ironic, hey? I think I've eaten more grits since I moved to New York than I ate in the previous twenty years in North Carolina.
