Garage!

Garage!

Garage!

Garage!

Garage!

Garage!

...plus all the times I didn't bore you with the fact that something different broke on the garage door. This weekend it was a pulley and I still have to replace the cable that it partially shredded while it was broken.

It's Kaleb on Halloween
uploaded to flickr

I thought everybody needed a picture of Kaleb today. We sure do miss that dog.

Which telephone book?

In the past month, we've received our annual three telephone books. The official Verizon Telephone Book, The Yellow Book, and the Talking Phone Book. Does anyone even use the phone book any more? That is unless they don't have a computer. I think I like the Yellow Book the most. It covers a largest area, has the best restaurant section and largest yellow pages. I won't use it much but I'll keep that one in the kitchen.

Today it rained hard. I had to walk two blocks and into a foot of water to retrieve our garbage can. I assume the cap is lost forever. I saw our neighbors' recycling bin wedged under the middle of a car three blocks away which had a small stream going under it. I would have gotten it but that would have meant submerging myself. I opted not too.

City Hall Schenectady, NY
uploaded to flickr

I've spent the last couple of days adding a couple of sets to flickr. I uploaded a lot of the pictures of Schenectady I took a couple of years ago and made a separate set of the Stockade. I have a lot of pictures.

Rain, let's talk about it. How can anybody complain when it could be snow? February was the second wettest February on record. It's rained or snowed everyday in March except for two. As of this afternoon, we are more than three inches above normal rainfall for this time in March and it's still raining hard. As for snowfall, normally we should have 56 inches by this time, we've only had 52. So like I said, I really shouldn't complain.

Sinus Buster, one of my new best friends. I don't have a lot of chronic bad things wrong with me but I do have a lot of problems with my sinuses. Duncan can actually recognize me having problems before I admit it to myself because I'll start pushing on my face with my knuckles or something strange like that. Squirting pepper juice up your nose as far as it'll go. It burns like a mother but after it subsides, it's a great temporary relief most of the time without drugs and sleepiness. The trick is to force it back as far as it'll go and let it burn. Cry baby cry...

Deputy Adam

I have a new favorite cop. Sorry Officer Dan, Deputy Adam from Leon County and Tallahassee FL is my new favorite cop. With that cool accent and evil eye, you are the man.

Love that chicken at Popeyes
uploaded to flickr

Love that chicken at Popeye's.

1 in 99 people in this country are in jail. 1 in 36 Latinos are in jail. 1 in 15 black folk are in jail. It's all so ashamed.

flashing yellow light

I like this idea. I'm not sure why they're needed because really, what kind of a dumbass doesn't know that a solid green ball doesn't give you the right of way to turn left in front of on coming traffic...unless that is, I say, unless that is, you're in Schenectady, NY where there are a couple of lights that give you the right of way to turn left in front of traffic with no arrow but a solid green ball so you just sit there if you don't know any better. Schenectady is pretty progressive when it comes to a lot of things such as green projects and wise energy usage. But anything to do with traffic such as design, redesign, painting lines in an efficient way to move traffic or just painting lines at all, it's 1955. The exception being replacing the traffic lights with all LCD, but that's really one of their energy saving measures they've been taking over the last several years. Geek Mode Alert: I really like the one traffic signal that has both the green and yellow arrow in the same position in the light...one good thing is, to my knowledge, we don't have any signals still on timers like Albany has.

I still love Janet Jackson. I wish I could still love Michael Jackson.

Eliot Spitzer, what have you done? You were once a hero of mine. Dammit!

March 12 2008

Eliot Spitzer resigned today, effective Monday. I don't really have any personal problem with prostitution, especially when it's done like this. Off the street with girls(guys) who are hooked on drugs just trying to get their next hit or are forced into it for the same reason is a different horse all together. What gets my goat, other than the humiliation his wife and KIDS, who have to go to school with this hanging over their heads, is the fact he paid over $80,000 over the last several years. Yes he's a rich man but my god, that's a lot of money.

I like David Paterson. He seems to have a lot of the same goals for upstate new York as Spitzer did. Will he be forceful enough to stand up to Joe Bruno, I don't know.

$5 Bill

It's so unfair as I notice it's 76 in Charlotte, NC. I'm sitting here and it's 34 degrees and that's not really too far from normal. That said, I like the fact that it's light this late in the afternoon. I like daylight savings time. I'd much rather have it light in the evening rather than in the morning. I sleep better when it's dark outside. Since standard time is hardly more than four months now, why don't we just do away with it and have some more daylight in the evening during those short winter days?

Where's my numbers pad? I learned to use a computer at work many years ago and I did a lot of data entry, hence, I've always have typed my numbers with the numbers pad. Since I got my laptop, I feel I have completely lost my ability to type, along with the fact, I can't even hit the shift key anymore. I'd buy a separate number pad but that's just something else to drag around.

I like the new $5 bill released today. It's all purplely (pronounced purple lee) and stuff. I wish American money was colorful like much of the foreign currency.

I've never noticed that archive.org had so much going on. It's been a while since I've been there but they have great classic movies, commercials, TV shows, news archives, newspapers, books, shorts, music, concerts, software, and much more I'm sure I missed. Check it out.

Red Reebok

I really want these, except for the fact they're Kool-Aid shoes. But I want these size 11 1/2 giant big red shoes, again, except for the fact they're Kool-Aid shoes.

Fred Flintstone

Albany is getting the country's biggest Super Wal-Mart. It's actually the old Wal-Mart in Crossgates Commons which is on the top floor and they're combining it with the old Sam's Club that used to be on the bottom floor. They've installed the escalator with the cart trolley in the middle and it's actually open though the remodel won't be finished until May. The only other escalator I've been on for carts actually was more of an incline conveyor that grabbed onto the cart wheels and you went down with your cart instead of it going down separate. It was actually pretty cool.

March 21 2008

We just got back from Delmonico's Steakhouse, supposedly the best steak in the region. I think they may be right and it's not a "I have a stick up my ass kind of place". One of my friends gave us a gift certificate so we thought we should take advantage of it. I think we may have to go back.

One of my friends is moving and when he told me, for some reason, I thought I was going to cry. Pretty gay, ehh? People come and go through your life. Some don't matter, some do.

Sledding down the hill onto frozen Lake Luzerne

The family's up for the week so we spent Easter sledding down at Lake Luzerne.

My best friend's dad died today. I may take a trip down to North Carolina depending on the funeral plans and such. It's long been expected but you still never know exactly what to do or say. He knows whatever he needs, I'll do it.

Sad Snowman saying good-bye to Beth and the kids
uploaded to flickr

Sad faceless snowman built by Beth and Christina before they left this morning. We got 3.7 inches of snow this morning while the mountains got the brunt of the storm. As I browse the news this morning, I see it's gonna be 79 in Charlotte today. It should be around 40 here today. I'm a little jealous.

A quandary: A job at work has opened up and I may want it. The problem is in January when another job I wanted opened up, my boss promised me some things if I stayed where I was. I stayed and my boss so far had done his part. Now another job has opened up. What should  do? keep my word or go for it? Humm...

March 28 2008

Besides having six females in the house this week, (great time by the way though I had to work most of the time) I've been digging the new B-52's CD every chance I gotten since I downloaded it Tuesday. It's great by the way but was there ever any doubt? I thought I'd have to wait until Sunday to see the Funplex video when it debuts on LOGO but it's around to enjoy now on the little screen.
