Mily Sirius

Mily Sirius, I just don't get it. I don't mean the fact that I don't get her music, I'm not supposed too. I'm too old and too male. I don't get the controversy over this picture. This especially compared to the other pictures and videos they showed on the news to compare it with. There is a picture of her laying all over her father which is extremely gross and they showed a picture of her on stage dressed like a whore. You can dress like a whore or you can take a picture where you look much too intimate with your father but you can't show a little skin which happens to be your back.

I just did a Mily Sirius entry. Shoot me now. Stay tuned tomorrow for a complete editorial on The Bratz and  Barbie and why you should hate them.

The room I grew up in
uploaded to flickr

This is the room I grew up in. It didn't have a door at the time, the walls were brown knotty pine and there was red and black carpet on the floor. Looks like it's a den now. My mom said it was for sale again so I looked it up. My folks bought it for $15,000, sold it in 1987 for $63,000 and it's for sale now for $250,000. It' been seriously remodeled and it's more beautiful than ever. The things I used to do in that room. I was a freak kid.

We're going to see the True Colors Tour next month. I'm just freaking excited. I truly love Cyndi Lauper and The B-52's. You can see that by my much out dated about me page. How will I make it until then?

And, this evening, as I was driving, everything seemed different. I drove the neighborhood, it was the same, yet different. I don't know if it's because everything has turned green in the last week with all the rain or what. It's just different.

And even with the new revelation that I have old woman hands, specifically my moms, I got carded going into a bar Saturday night.

Different Lights On Broadway
uploaded to flickr

The neon lights on Broadway are sometimes LED.

The colors are amongst us. The greens, purples, reds, yellows...all just like that it seems as I sit on the back porch taking it all in as I type these words. I did have the music playing but it seemed wrong so instead I listen to the wind which seems pretty brisk on this sunny warm day. Watching the lilac bushes with their giant purple blossoms blow around, the bird with the bright orange bill eating off the bird feeder, and the wind chimes making a distant sounding chime but being right above my head. What a great day to be off, but then again, any day is a great day to be off.

I think this is my favorite - Taconic Sculpture Park in Spencertown, NY
uploaded to flickr

I had my first Heath Bar Blizzard in years as we came upon an old school Dairy Queen in the town of Ghent today. It was quite superb.

We also came upon a sculpture park literally out in the middle of nowhere in The Taconic Mountains down a mile long dirt road. A guy name Roy Kanwit has created quite a few sculptures over the years on his property, the largest being a 19 foot tall head made with a steel frame and concrete completely accessible from the inside. My favorite is the one above, I don't know why. They're all pretty interesting if you care to peruse them.

It's Casey
uploaded to flickr

This is Casey, the new addition to our house. Please welcome her because she's a sweetheart. We picked her up at the ASPCA today. She's about a year old or a little more. How somebody could just dump this dog on their doorstep, I don't know. They say she's been spayed, we're suspecting she may not be. She's already found Kaleb's tennis ball under the chair and about disposed of it. She's currently passed out on the couch.

Looking, smelling the bread

Got it!

Casey going after a piece of squirrel bread on the window sill.

Casey seems to have taken to her new home just fine. She seems to be house trained and although she's got some worms, that'll be taken care of pretty easy. We were told she was spayed but it became pretty obvious on the way home, she wasn't. We had a appointment at the vet today and I think we've found one we really like.

After a very cold May, spring is finally here.

"Give me something bizarre to play or put me in a dress and I'm fine."...says Harvey Korman in a 2005 interview. He died yesterday at 81. I guess it's really not so unexpected but I grew up on the Carol Burnett Show literally from 1967 to 1978. Freaking made me laugh so many times because they would do anything and crack up about it themselves.

Taking a trip down the Mohawk Hudson bikeway on the OTHER side of the river
uploaded to flickr

TTook a bike ride yesterday but rode down the opposite side of the river instead and got a great view of the back of the former ALCO buildings, one you can't see from the street. All of that property is due to be redeveloped in the near future. I had no idea it went literally all the way to the river.

And of course, I've heard Casey bark but twice since we got her, that was until yesterday when I pulled out the vacuum and she went into attack mode.

Governor Paterson told state agencies to start recognizing same sex marriages performed in other states and countries the other day. That's pretty cool be we've all learned not to get our hopes up too soon.
