Just some weird stuff as I walked Casey through Union College. That's
becoming one of our regular jaunts when we have the time.
Really no other offerings here except we're going on vacation to NC in
August and we're both super excited. At work, an old lady accused me of
being too young to know how to work in a yard.
I want to do a remake on this site but I just can't seem to stir up the
inclination or the time. Give me a year or so. I got a large chocolate
shake on the way home from work. A great idea from the "deliciousness"
point of view. Not a great idea from the "passing through your system"
point of view.
The song Crazy, by Gnarls Barkley, sucks. Sucks, sucks, sucks. It's
really just sucks. Let me tell you how I really feel. It sucks. This
morning in the car, while listening to WEQX, a clearly
alternative station (and a really good one) they announce, "Up next is
the new one by Gnarls Barkley". It started and I almost instinctively
went to change the station but it instantly hooked me. I love this song.
I'll even probably download it in the next few minutes. I'm also
surprised Gnarls Barkley is two guys and not the name of one guy the way
I thought. On this beautiful day, I washed and waxed both cars and
watched Casey play in the neighbor's sprinklers for 20 minutes.
Wow, for the
fifth straight year,
Schenectady's population has increased instead of decreased. From a
high in the 1950's of almost 100,000 to a low in 2000 where the
population was around 61000. Sure last year's gain was only 50 but it's
a celebration up here. As people aged and kids move away leaving houses
with one or two people instead of four or five people and the massive
job losses from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, maybe this city is finally
coming around. All the land in New York is incorporated so all cities
are land locked and can't expand as suburbs grow and that has also lead
to a decline in upstate cities. If you want a direct correlation, this
is the same exact time we moved here, hence, it can be extrapolated that
people are following us here, and who wouldn't?
Duncan's niece is flying in later today for a visit so he'll be on
vacation while I'm at work this week, but I'm not bitter.
Got this endless itch to ride
Into the night
Fortune cookie says I'm right
Kung Foo like
Shake your body Mister
Gonna make ya body blister, say
hey, hey, hey...
I first heard this song in March and immediately downloaded it I liked
it so much but I haven't heard it since on the radio, just on the IPod.
I love it thinking I read too much into it. Anyway, there's a bunch more
versions of it
here.
I was walking into the store yesterday when I noticed one of the girls
in front of me checking out the same guy I was, or at least I thought
she was. It was then when she grabbed the hand of the chick next to her
and continued walking. Nothing really too strange about that except the
other chick had a parakeet on her shoulder. Here I am following two
lesbians holding hands, one with a parakeet on her shoulder going
grocery shopping. At one point, the girl turned her head and laid a big
kiss on, not the girl, but the bird. They blocked my view of the guy in
front of them by the way.
Our neighbor is putting up vinyl siding. I'm kind of sad. Hopefully
it'll look nice. Some of the houses around here look really nice with
vinyl while others have the same off the rack basic colors as the next.
It hides a lot of the house's personality.
There's also a lot of old white aluminum siding in the neighborhood.
Strange thing is, me and the girl who live there have had several
conversations about how we really are glad we don't have vinyl siding.
On top of that to boot, the construction guys are not hot.
It has rained all day and the weather guy just drew a penis on the
screen. I wonder if he noticed. The thruway is closed between
Schenectady and Amsterdam with two feet of water on it and I still owe
Casey one more walk through the heavy rain later. I haven't even got to
wear my
new shoes today because I don't want to get them wet. Maybe I'll go
see a
movie tonight....rain falls harder...maybe I'll watch this week's
Closer on the DVR.
So long Estelle Getty, gay and AIDS activist. She died Tuesday but I
didn't even realize it until last night.
Lifetime is actually doing an all day tribute tomorrow. Vote for
your favorite Sophia episode
here. They actually have the one I would have voted for without
choices as a choice. "Old Friends"
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
your heart is true you're a pal and a confidant
I may be the most rested I've been in a while. I haven't had to set the
alarm for ten days. That ends at 4:30 tomorrow morning. Got a visit from
David and drove
around looking for old supermarkets and other interesting buildings and
even learned a bit more about Albany and
Schenectady.
I wasn't sure if
Mamma
Mia would be any good or not but it was great! Besides the fact I
love ABBA and Meryl Streep and Christine Baranski and Colin Firth,
Amanda Seyfried from Big Love stole the show. I want to see it again. I
want to sing along.
