We went to Taiwan yesterday. Wait, wait, what did I say? No, we went to New Hampshire yesterday. Where did that come from? Not only can I not type because I sliced my finger today and fought off the bleeding most of it, too, I can't think either. Enough typing, enjoy the windmills we saw in Vermont and the train much closer to home.

Duncan had hernia surgery Wednesday and is up and doing just fine. In fact he was back at work Thursday. Everyone was so nice at Ellis Hospital. In fact, I've never been to a hospital and not had people treat me with kindness and courtesy. Oddly for me was the trip home. It seemed like it took us forever to circle the parking deck to get out and then 40 seconds to get home. We live two blocks from the hospital.

Price Chopper is going green. The new 69,000-square-foot Colonie store will be equipped with a massive fuel cell capable of generating 75 percent of the supermarket’s power. It will also feature a biohydrator that will biodegrade fish, meat and vegetable scraps, easy-to-clean without harsh chemicals colored concrete floors and skylights for sun harvesting. I love hydrogen cell technology, it's our future.

Casey ate a dead bird yesterday.

And lastly, why didn't I know John McCain's sons were so hot? ...and did you know the also hot Todd Palin is not registered as a Republican but rather as not affiliated. Since I was 19, I was registered as not-affiliated but changed it last year to Democrat so I could vote in a particular primary for a particular candidate. I had planned to change it back after this Tuesday's primary, but I may just leave it. Or, I may just get tired of the whole system and change it back. The future will tell. New York does not let unaffiliated voters vote in primaries as other states do.

There's a new Harvey Milk movie coming out this Thanksgiving. I say new like there's ever been one except for documentaries and such. Sean Penn is Milk and it looks like he's gonna do an excellent job. Wonder if it'll go to mainstream theaters. Anyway, watch the trailer and if you haven't seen The Times of Harvey Milk, watch it.

Today I was hell bound to sit here and search myspace and facebook for every person I've ever known, and care to know again. I don't use either much but I have found important people from my past (or they've found me) on both sites lately and figured I'd spend a day typing in names and locations and see what turns up. Well I didn't do that. It was much too beautiful outside so I worked in the yard and planted some mums for the fall and took Casey to the dog park. Duncan and I also went to the Greek Festival. Let's just say I've been to better Greek Festivals but is it really their fault? There are very few Greeks in the area as opposed to down south or a big city. That said, I think I may go watch some news. haven't all day.

Headline on the front page of today's Gazette: Liver Disease Seen In Fat Kids. Not Liver Disease Seen In Obese Children. That's right, fat kids...

Jonas Brothers...yuck. Yuckady, yuck, yuck.

Old Cassettes

Where's all my old tapes? I guess I threw them out at some point in time. They aren't any good any more anyway. I found a drawer full of them that I put out of my mind long ago but most of them were ones I recorded myself and I don't remember throwing the pre-recorded ones away. These were bought at The Record Bar at South Park Mall and The Record Rack in West Park Mall. I also frequented World Wide Records on South Blvd. and Ernie's in Park Road Shopping Center. These because they were reachable by bike. These were actually probably bought using the old trusty (sometimes) bright yellow Honda Civic.

I heard the Stand Up 2 Cancer song on the radio from last week's three network cancer benefit so I decided to see who was singing what. It just goes to prove, Miley Cyrus does suck. Standing beside these wonderful voices she sounds like a shrieking whooping crane. Fergie also hit some sour notes but who's perfect? Mary J Blige still makes me scream out loud.

Right now, watching Ike in real time. Hurricanes scare me.

It's hard to type sitting in the Lazy Boy with a dog who also has her head on the keyboard. I may or may not finish this. Her obedience training is going just swell. Last night, we learned how to make her come when we call. Today, I was in another world and just opened the back door and let her out without thinking. Normally, she would catch sight of a squirrel, run three backyards down, start jumping at a tree and not even think about doing what she was told. Today, she ran three backyards down, jumped at a squirrel in the tree, etc, etc. The difference was, she came on the first call with major distractions. I am super happy and proud. One less crazy point for Casey.

Happy Birthday to my brother, tomorrow my dad.

Road Trip to Carolina Beach, NC August 2008

Just wishing being back at Carolina Beach looking at the sun rise as all the freeze warnings and frost advisories went out last night. We narrowly escaped it here in the valley so my flowers may live another day.

Afterelton.com surveyed for the top 50 gay movies of all time. I agree with a lot of the survey, especially looking at the time they were released. Brokeback Mountain, Beautiful Thing, Big Eden. Yes, yes, yes. But really? Latter Days sucked. It was awful. My favorite gay movie of all time would have to be The Broken Hearts Club followed by the following in no particular order for no particular reason. Philadelphia, Big Eden, Brokeback Mountain, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Transamerica, Longtime Companion, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, Boys in the Band, Angels in America, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Beautiful Thing. OK, so I originally put them in order but kept rearranging them so they're kind of in order but not really. Also, there was supposed to be only ten, What's up with that? And the movie Get Real wasn't on there and where were all the lesbian movies? You must have to go to afterellen.com's top 50 for that.

I'm gonna be fooling around with my web host so if I disappear, I'll be right back.

Tree Trimming

Our neighbor is having some trees trimmed so I abandoned my backyard work in case there were a mistake as a crane hovered above the 50 foot trees. There is sun where there never was before.

Lisa Lampanelli at The Palace Albany

Went to see Lisa Lampanelli again tonight at The Palace in Albany. It seems like yesterday but it was for my birthday last year we went to see her. Duncan was out of town so I went with my pal Echo. My jaw hurts for laughing. Better than any old presidential debate for sure. I guess I'll watch that tomorrow on the DVR. She said she's doing an HBO special. If you haven't seen her, watch it.

A&P Margaretville, NY

Coming Soon Margaretville, NY

A rainy couple of days lead me to try to escape it at least for a few hours so being by myself this weekend, I headed down Rt 30 to the Catskills where I came across the village of Margaretville, a cool little town at the base of a mountain on The Delaware River. I saw The Delaware & Ulster Railroad have an old train they use for excursions into the mountains that I passed that I have a definite interest in next year. It looks like great fun.

As I was getting closer to home, I tried to snap a picture but I guess it was set to video so I have a video of me singing some KC and The Sunshine Band as the camera flails around aimlessly in my hand. WARNING: It ain't pretty. I don't know how Duncan puts up with it.

Almost finally, so long Paul Newman. What a great actor and stand up guy you were.

And finally, Burn After Reading, good but not great. I was a little disappointed and it was a lot darker than I expected but I still love Brad Pitt. My friend Rick who I was with had a tranny with very noisy keys sit down right beside him.

September 28 2008

It's a little late but I watched Friday night's debate today. I'd call it a draw but (no, I ain't voting for him) McCain completely impressed me on foreign policy issues. I guess being in the House and Senate for the last 25 years has "learned" him a thing or two. Remember when McCain used to really be independent and not just pretend to be? I wonder how this election would be polling right now if McCain would have picked a decent running mate.

This new American Express commercial is pretty funny. This old one I've never seen before but it's pretty funny too.
